Ok, I'll use caps here, just so people might take notice.. hell I'll bold and underline and resize it too...

IT DOES NOT AFFECT YOUTUBE LP'ERS! THEIR GAMEPLAY IS NOT STREAMED SO IF IT IS SHOWN IT IS THEIR OWN FAULT, LEARN TO EDIT YOUR VIDEOS!!!

Now, can we stop saying the map change is for LPers, pretty please? It's for streamers, end of.

In windows 8, this is not a good idea. It considers it malicious

Add an alias in the hosts file of the client machine
in this text file (located on windows in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc") add a line that has
127.0.0.1 nameIWantToUse

Use the actual ip address instead of the home number used as an example.

Then in the server setup screen in Minecraft, instead of using the IP addrsss put the nameIWantToUse

TaDa! No more visible IP address and a useless name that nobody else can attempt to go to.

Wouldn't the simplest thing be to ship both REI's and the Voxely/Zan thing with Ultimate/every pack, but have one of them disabled, so all people have to do is click twice to get exactly what they want... thus avoiding this entire debate, if people can't be bothered to click twice, they shouldn't be playing FTB.

Rational people consider windows 8 malicious.
Just wait 'till Windows 9. Microsoft's chat and game managers will auto-launch without any option to disable them, MSNBC spread will be required reading before continuing, and any options more complex than checking the weather or buying a movie will be locked behind a Rubik's Hypercube.

Duuuuude calm down... Your going to start hissing at this rate and then there will be blocks everywhere.

And yeah if your an making Youtube videos and cant edit them to remove info you don't want people to see... well thats your own damn fault. The few places it shows up can be cut out. Just like how the server connect page before you could hide IPs the Youtubes just cut that out out blurred the ip.

Please explain the problems with windows 8, I know it's cool to hate but go ahead.

You can set them to auto go to desktop, it is noticeably more efficient than 7, you don't have to *Ever* use metro apps, just use links to control panel and such on desktop or menu.

I quite like my 5 second boot speeds too, as a convenience. The only negative I've found is that windows 8 doesn't like old ports sometimes, but then when did a port ever work well without patches/fixes?

infiltrated worker of windows marketing detected!

Yes, I have to be a worker because I don't jump on a bandwagon of people who most likely DONT EVEN HAVE THE PRODUCT.

It's like apple bashers who don't have/haven't had one in the past 10 years.

Although conveniently enough part of my job role includes internet marketing - you will never see me doing that under my gamer accounts though as more importantly that ties my gamer accounts to my work identity!

While I might not like Windows 8 much as I did not like Vista.

I will never understand the need to dump so much hate on an OS. 8 Brings a lot to the table for touch screen devices but is only a sort of side grade for non touch devices. But I would not go so far as to call it Malicious

Its the hipster cool to hate on even numbered windows thing. sort of like startrek movies.

I personally dislike it because it does not add anything much to my system. Windows 7 works perfectly fine and the only thing 8 brings is issues with older software. Give it a few service patches and I'm sure it will shine. But I am in the camp of if it is not broke no need to upgrade. So it will be awhile before I do anything with 8.

I would agree it's not really worth UPGRADING to (as I told my friends when asked), but if you're getting a new pc and aren't buying the parts separately you will likely save absolutely 0 for getting windows 7 instead of 8, and then 8 is definitely worth it

If you have windows 7 and aren't hung up on faster boot/run speeds (processor not gaming, although miencraft is a processor-pushing game), it's not worth the £40+ upgrade cost for most. The problem which both xp and 7 have is they are almost exactly the same format, just very efficient. Vista was a gap that while not necessarily any buggier than the before or after, was significantly slower and bulkier which caused more problems of its own.

I also never had problems with 2000 especially. I heard NT was more of an issue but never used it.

@Captain neckbeard as mentioned, metro is completely skippable. You can have it setup in about 10 minutes so you never see the metro interface again.

You know you can disable that crap and turn it into basically the same interface as windows 7.
Did you figure out how without googling it? I sure as fuck couldn't. The default interface is inexcusably counterintuitive and labyrinthine for do anything more in-depth than what my grandparents would attempt.

The biggest icon is your desktop. There is both an all apps icon and if you rightclick ANYWHERE a big bar comes up with an all apps link in a menu format exactly comparable to a windows 2000/xp folded menu. All the titles are the same and everything is in the same place (e.g. control panel!) in the menu, it's just graphically a bit different.

Oh noes, personally I thought windows 7 was a great graphical improvement over xp (technically vista was but w/e), but I guess you were against that one too?

It likes to pretend every device is a touchpad, and not only is that a bad idea, but I wouldn't run windows on a touchpad. I'd run Android.

I've been grumbling about the changes to Windows ever since 2000 was released as a crash-happy soup sandwich, yeah. '98 was a marked improvement over its predecessors, though.

In the day of the Internet I feel sorry that you are upset you might have to Google something. Or shockingly go to the website of the creators to find out how to do some configuration.

Hey back in the day when I updated form DOS to Windows 3.11 we had to read a whole frig'n manual.

You do not have my sympathy for your lack of ability to research an answer that would take 5 minutes of time on Google to get.[DOUBLEPOST=1362349590][/DOUBLEPOST]

This I can agree with. I think windows 8 is good for touch devices not so much for non touch. But I do prefer android.

Still would not call it a virus though.

Metro is really being overstated. It's completely ignorable. I use android but I wouldn't be surprised if I switched because it hasn't been perfect to me. Maybe I'm just not hip enough for these touch phones though.

I take it you live in an magical candy kingdom where you can get a new broadband connection set up the same hour you call the provider, then. Good for you, but it took two weeks for the guy to show up at my place.

Anyway, I'm liking this pre-Ultimate Pack a lot. Slick, lots of little things here and there making everything just a little more enjoyable. A couple crashes that I wasn't able to replicate to find the cause, though.
