That is definitely worth looking into. I'll have to see how I can configure it.

Default options mod, that will let me set things like this and JEI options, too? I'm an extreme tinkerer and all default options are wrong, lol. I want to set a proper base for everyone who doesn't get delight from flipping every switch everything has.

Edit: I meant journeymap, but JEI works, too.

back before 1.7 Beta (as in before the official 1.0 Release), back when you had the Far Lands, the seed 404 had an interesting challenge involving a gravel area that would dump you deep into a huge cave system, and the challenge involved spending precisely a single day to gather your surface resources before taking a dive and never coming back up.
Indeed, I'd actually heard of the 404 Challenge from... what was it? It was the episode of The Shaft podcast (RIP :() that had Simon and Lewis from the Yogscast on it - they refer to it then. And that's what made me think "I wonder what happens if I put in 404 now?" - I tried it, and it turns out its a nice seed!

Just noticed the MeeCreeps mod in the showcase forum (under the closer gamer first looks thread). I'm wondering if I should throw that in there. It comes with its own portal gun, too. Though I don't know if that portal gun is the same kind of momentum-keeping portal gun as "Portal Gun".

It is not, as far as I can tell. You set a location in a radial menu, then when you select that location in the menu and shoot portal, you can walk into/onto that portal and you will appear at the location you originally set, with the visuals of a portal under or next to you. It seems to be modelled quite differently from iChun's portal gun (which itself was modelled after the one from Portal) so my suspicion is that other aspects would differ.

OK.

Well, hell, I think I may just throw them both in there and see what happens. I was looking at a couple of other mods associated with MCJty and I'm probably going to add them, too. Like xNICEx, which looks like it has some nice cosmetic stuff worth throwing in there.

Also added Advanced Chimneys. It's just decoration, but I like to use it as a visual reference of what's going through my furnaces. Plus it looks nice.

OK, so I want to seriously gate the angel ring so I actually ever make and use a jetpack. Any suggestions on how to make it basically an ultimate prize? Some packs have used nether stars, but I'm not sure that's enough. I don't want it to be impossible, I just want this like 100 hours into the game.

Has anyone used the wings of the bat from AA? does that at least have some kind of drawback that makes it worth upgrading from?

So, funny thing: in 1.11 and over, the Wings of the Bat can only be used for 40 seconds, and have to be "recharged" on a cooldown by touching the ground or the ceiling. So I'd say definitely in the recent versions, less so in 1.10.

People have also used Elytra as a gate for the angel ring, which I don't think is a terrible idea (if its not already in there). They've also used things like high-tier jetpacks as a required ingredient!

I need to think about that. Is the nether star really that far off from the elytra as a gate? But then again, to get an elytra, you almost kinda need some kind of alternate flying source, which kinda fits the theme.

The jetpack idea works as a hard progression gate, but kinda breaks immersion, I think. But I don't hate the Elytra idea the more I think about it...

McJty's Interaction Wheel:

Let's say for example that I run my game off of an xbox controller, which is pretty limited on buttons. I have about 4 different keybinds I'd want to squeeze into a single button if at all possible, would I be able to configure this to help there? More specifically, lets say I wanted to put light level overlay and chunk border overlays in the same button. Would I be able to map those in the interaction wheel to save controller space?

Also, I'm keeping Dimensions. I have yet to experience it and I would like to, and it's as simple as that, lol.

And actually, if I keep the quantum quarry super end game, it's kind of OK. Once you have that quantum quarry, you have all of everything forever. So what if I can build a portal to a dimension where the whole world is made out of diamonds? By the time I have a quantum quarry, I'd have an unlimited supply of diamonds passively anyway.

Just a quick thought. BoP changes the grass color depending on Biome, but the grass slabs added by Building Bricks will retain the default Vanilla grass color. I know how important world gen is to you, so I wanted you to be aware of the inconsistency.

Ew! That may affect things.

Edit: ugh, that's so disappointing...

edit 2: Maybe not the end of the world, though. I wanted to take another look at BoP mixed with RTG anyway. Or, worst case, I can just disable the worldgen slabs even though I like it. It does cause other weird issues anyway, that I had already noticed with minecolonies

Make the Angel Ring require an Elytra to craft? And of course, you need to manually do the unstable ingot thing, so you can potentially lose the Elytra if you screw it up, needing another one.

No unstable ingots in ExU2. They were replaced with two golden lassos, one holding a bat and the other holding a live ghast.

Which, btw, if you've never collected yourself a live ghast whilst swinging from the ceiling in the nether over a lava ocean with a grappling hook like some kind of demonic Tarzan with your entire inventory on your person in a complicated iron backpacks configuration, then you have not lived Minecraft, sir!

Not only do you have to capture said ghast in a lasso though, you have to injure it first, WITHOUT killing it, down to... two hearts is it? THAT'S fun :D

There are different steps you can take to gate the ring, including Elytra. You're definitely in 1.10? If you weren't, you could use the Wings of the Bat (which aren't as good in 1.11, as mentioned) and the elytra as required crafting components. I'm just imagining a customised Actually Additions Empowerer recipe, so you have something like a ring from Actually Additions in the middle (could do the Jump Boost ring I suppose, normal or advanced!) and then the elytra, the Wings of the Bats, and a couple of other things - a Shulker in a lasso for the levitation maybe :p and if it was in 1.11, the glider component of the Dark Armor (which if memory serves is constructed separately before being added)

Yeah. I fact I learned after many terrified swings over said lava ocean, lol. And I didn't bring any ranged weapons with me, so I had to swing out over the ocean and slash it with my sword, in mid-air, then re-latch my grappling hook, all over the lava. It was actually really fun. I will never do it again, lol

It is definitely 1.10. I'll most likely skip 1.11 entirely and run this 1.10 pack until 1.12 is the new 1.7

I can include the bat wings in the recipe as long as I wouldn't have to make a second set of wings. IE, I want to USE the wings of the bat first, then use it in the recipe. But, of course, that means there needs to be a compelling reason to upgrade it from the wings of the bat to the angel ring in the first place.

Yeah. Unless...

According to the AA pages, the in 1.10 Wings give you creative flight, for free (i.e. not needing Grid Power). I've also observed that the Angel Ring can be quite slow. What if (and this depends on how the Wings perform in flight) you went the other way round? What if you needed the Angel Ring to craft the Wings of the Bat?

There may be a BoP config to disable the change of grass color, sky color, and foliage color. Not sure how in depth that config is, as I haven't used BoP since 1.7.

Good point. I will explore it all in depth before getting the world started anyway, so I'll see if I could disable that. I kinda want to disable someting like that anyway because I don't like all the browns and whatnot that it makes. I like the world to be a vibrant, predominantly green area.

Really not unlike my plot on my Sprout run, but as gorgeous as that was, that is what everywhere looks like pretty much.
