The crazy it takes before you get a high voltage solar panel. I can get its not supposed to be easy, but I'm 100% sure I have all the materials to make a few hundred regular panels, just not the courage to spend countless hours of making those to make 1 HV one ....

Really? Generally its getting all the resources for the hv. Making it is a snap. I've become quite happy with my mfr tree farm feeding a series of routed 32 generators controlled by a arch gate + wireless signal. Needs a 10th of the resources and opperates 24/7.

Don't you just make and upgrade them through LV and MV as you get the resources? I set up a Fabricator production line for the first few, then switched over to using AE which always seemed to make 1 extra panel every time it crafted an array.

perhaps I'm doing it wrong ? (could very well be, I'm pretty new)

I'm using lava to power Geothermals for my machines at my home (underground set up), so I need to make it all from bottom up. I have no need for regular/low/medium solar panels. Anything thats slower then a redstone cell battery is pretty pointless to power a quarry with in my opinion, the best next option for setting a quarry far away from your base seemed like solar panels.
but so far it resulted to me sitting in from of the craft table in my stockroom for , I'm not kidding, 2 hours straight, just to get a better solar panel for a quarry on location. I gave up after getting a few mediums, and cheated in 2 HV of them after that /le sign

Just have better things to do with that time :/

edit; spellz

Steam Boilers, running the steam either through power converters or an array of industrial steam engines. Sending the power through an energy tesseract. A 36HP steam boiler output about 144 mj/t. Even with a 20% energy tax (right?), that still counts for 115.2 mj/t. More than enough for a quarry.

Attach the tesseract directly to the quarry. Compact power. Stick an item tesseract on another face of the quarry, compact item transportation.

In case you didn't noticed, I LOVE tesseracts. TE3's, more so since you get all three functions in one cube!

P.S. I loved steam boilers too. Now, I love fusion reactors from Atomic Science but that isn't in Unleashed.

Energy Tesseracts are limited to 100MJ/t, and have a loss of 25%. But that still leaves 75MJ/t which is completely wasted on one quarry. One quarry should never be given more than ~45MJ/t due to diminishing returns. And you really wont gain much from anything over 30MJ/t.

Making solar panels to power a quarry is usually not a very good idea in my opinion. Either you have to move all the panels and stuff every time you move the quarry, or you have to keep large areas loaded to run expensive wires to/from. If you use an energy tesseract anyway to power quarry, there are much cheaper solutions of producing MJ.

When I'm crafting AE and I shift click a VERY expensive diamond/iridium recipe and create all that I possibly can.

For me it's more twilight forest + mystcraft void mushroom age + grass = when squirrels attack. Although I guess it could be AM interfering.
