Haven of Light: A Family-Friendly, Vulgarity-Free Collaborative City Server
How long have you been wandering around the Feed the Beast forums, looking for a server that would tune out vulgarity without the use of extra mods? Have you been looking for a collaborative server, where you pool resources and work together? Are you an LotR fan and looking for a server based on it? Then we're here for you!
This is a futuristic Elven style city, Mountainous. As then name states, it will literally shining city, with lights hidden under microblocks to give the impression that the blocks themselves shine.
Rules:
  1. No Vulgarity!! I cannot stress this enough. No bad words or jokes that parents would not appreciate. If I receive reports of you saying bad words on Mumble, then live speaking privileges on Mumble will be revoked.
  2. No griefing! No breaking expensive blocks and throwing them into lava.
  3. Mystcraft ages are to be created by ops only! Ops=The city planners and I.
  4. Streaming of the server is allowed. I have made a set date where I will begin streaming things in July. Until then, I won't stream the server.
  5. We will not be mining the Overworld. The Overworld will be specifically for our base.
  6. No typing in all caps!
  7. Only ops may use Chunk Loaders.
  8. Speak only English in chat and Mumble.

Application structure:

Minecraft IGN (In-Game Name):
Examples of what you have done in the past, pictures, if you have any.
Why you want to be on this server:
Any specific skills you may have:
Any all-important details that would seem right on our server:

The two most exceptional applications in the categories: Technical and Aesthetic will be city planners. If you feel that you could not handle being a planner/op/moderator, then please say so in your application under the 5 items asked for.
Please use the best grammar you can.
In case you want to be on this server and yet use bad words, please make sure that you can keep your mouth shut. Check yourself. I want to be completely sure that you can restrain yourself.
I will be looking for specific qualities in people. I won't be stating these, so that people cannot fake them.
Your application must contain all 5 items, otherwise, the application will be completely ignored.
Thanks for applying, I look forward to working with you guys on this city.[DOUBLEPOST=1362093300][/DOUBLEPOST]
So:
Protestant theme faith for ENTIRE server, which restricts vocabulary...
Technological buildings that require applications in secular science, plus the usage of magic
as well as Catholic central building design...

Logic = Flawed...
But it's your server, so w/e...

I forgot to change that description. I will fix it now.

I'd like to (with a heavy heart) point out that you've been doing everything wrong. Stirling engines are WRONG. Magmatic engines? WRONG. Even electrical engines are W-W-WRONG. Notepad is WRONG as well.

Feed the Beast is a multi-mod Minecraft game, which is a sandbox game. So it's sandbox squared (TM). So what you think is right is one of almost infinite possibilities. So you're wrong. Everything I do in game is WRONG, everything everyone does is WRONG.

Getting over the fact that you (and everyone else's suggestions about in-game play) are wrong, my opinion (so this part may not be wrong) is that you're planning wrong. Like I said in my last post is ask your community. They'll give you the best suggestions, because it's what they want. Think Guswut is playing on your server? Think again, he has a server in which he blasts music at his neighbors houses if they do bad things (True story). He'll give you suggestions on what he thinks would be good, but in-game, he's (you guessed it!) WRONG. Now, his server expertise is another story, but you seem to be past that.

The fun with Minecraft is not endless hours of planning and enslaving a community to see you dream come true, the fun with Minecraft is working together with your friends to do things that haven't been done before. Maybe everyone on your server wants to start with Stirling engines. In that case, Stirling engines are WRONG RIGHT. Do what your community says, don't tell them what to do "Okay, we're going to start with this, this, and this." What you want to do is "Okay valued members, what do you want to start with? My idea is this, this, and this, but I'd be willing to do what you guys want." Pick off a couple trees and make a ton of signs; alternatively, you could pick up a computer and a couple of monitors (1 redstone, some stone, and some glass) and type up everyone's thoughts.

You could even let everyone go about it on their own, and when it's time to build, you could vote on the best idea. Biofuel's useful and more efficient than many alternatives, but perhaps your members want to power everything off bees and scrap, because it's more fun.

Yoy! The server will be set up on Friday, but I will set up the description today. Thanks for helping everybody! You have made this such a success.[DOUBLEPOST=1362093806][/DOUBLEPOST]I know, my philosophy on this has changed. Ask them first.

I have only had to do this once, and that was back in 1.2.x. It seems that once was enough to scare people straight. Good post, but I don't think whizzball1 cares, so he'll have to learn the hard way. So it goes.

Well, I feel dumb for just realizing that scrap is a great energy source, and a lot easier to set up than blaze rods too. And the excess? Infinite EVERYTHING!

Well, I think he'll figure it out. His realization may not be instantaneous, but I don't want to see his server go down (even though it's a great moment for an "I told you so").

Heh, using scrap or scrapboxes (better storage) always felt extremely cheap to me, but something worth doing at least once. Then call your boiler the dumpster, and you've got the makings of a blockbuster halfway done!

And hopefully it does not crash and burn but, instead, is a recoverable level of insanity. Or maybe he'll find the perfect members, and everything will work out better than anticipated. Who knows, except a computer powerful enough to compute all of the associated variables? We'll see.

Well, I love saying I told you so, but this guy seems moderately serious, so I'd feel kinda bad (not bad enough to not say I told you so)..heh

So how much heat does Scrap provide? :D
Where's Omicron to tell me exactly how many I need to power up a 36 HP Boiler and how many Recyclers will be able to produce the output?
Can anyone say EU to MJ?

I know they give around 800eu to 900eu (850 maybe?) in a generator, so I'm not sure how much heat they provide (I think they can be used for heat, mmm), but yeah, scrappy little EU mass generation system, cheaper than nether lava by far!

aye, would have also gotten me banned from the forums :(

*new profile* Lambert2192.

It's fullproof! The mods'll never know!

@Guswut

And less laggy! I may have to actually try it, and just shove diamond dust in my matter fab for amplification :D

Pfff, don't be silly: Make more cobblestone generation/recyclers!

Then when you want more power, add more generations, and then EVEN MORE!

Ok, yes, I'm going to have to do this now JUST so I can call my power generation room "The Junkyard".

lmfao XD yeah that'd be fine if the numbers didn't actually have meaning XD
Okay... Lumbert2191! What do the numbers mean?

Nope, I'm going to use scrap, get me diamonds from their very small percent chance, macerate that, and amplify THAT.

All power generation=scrap. Now to create a power generation room...

Nice, guys. Scrapboxes for generation? You get one scrap per 8 cobble recycled, and it costs 45 eu to recycle one cobble, and 360 eu to make one scrap altogether, and 850 eu produced per scrap, so about 500 eu per scrap profit.
