This could mean that she has a working 1.4.5 port, but since she took a couple days off work, she might as well get the next update ready.

I heard the other mods should be easier to update to 1.4.6 since mod developers got a pre-release of 1.4.6.

Slowpoke stated in a an interview with DocM77 that he expects all mods to be updated to 1.4.6 this coming weekend.

Well if all other mods are updated this coming weekend, by what we've seen so far, that means in comparison Redpower should be updated sometime around March of 2013.. 'It'l be out soon, be patient!' 1.3.2 'Starting the port now, it's progressing well' 1.4 'Oop, more bugs, sorry' 1.4.2-1.4.3 'It WILL be out for 1.4.5, don't worry' 1.4.5 'Starting on the 1.4.6 port.. more bugs' 1.4.6. When does it end.

I do believe that 1.4.6 is a very small update so it shouldn't require major changes. Bugs are bugs though, so it gets done when it gets done. I am just glad to have the option to play mods like Red Power.

Well don't get folks wrong, I think everyone is happy to be able to play mods like Redpower.. we'd just like to play the ACTUAL redpower, and it's just a build up of a lot of no-communication and in all reality, her fan base turning into some of the most hostile people on the planet.

Though I'll also note, the updates in the 1.4.2 series were also rather small updates.. aaaand we see where we are.

If you watched the video, you would hear slowpoke mention that the updates were small for most mods, but for redpower 2, there was a significant change that was needed. This could be the case with 1.4.6 also, but from the communication that has been given, I would assume it's not.

the major problem was when mojang came with a new mod codeing, i think all modders needed to re-write their mods, this is the biggest setback for rp2 mush why its taking so long :)

Yea, I watched the video, which is why I made the jokey bellyache about it taking several more months. It's why I can't really have that sunny disposition of 'Oh it's coming guys don't worry!', every time there's light at the end of the tunnel.. it turns out to be a truck comin right for you. Also if those coding changes were the reason Zenzar, every mod wouldn't be updated, only the small ones would be.. and pretty much every active mod that exists is up to 1.4.5

I'm pretty positive RP2 will be released soon, for 1.4.6. The much bigger issue is the future of the mod. It's been 7 months since the last public release, will it be another 7 for the next update? So many people have been holding out for this mod before starting a new world. I'm afraid that that will force people to stay on 1.4.6 while the rest of the minecraft world moves forward.

Is anyone from the modpack team able to confirm whether or not XyCraft world gen will be added to the "Updated FTB beta pack" (Not sure what it is going to be called after its updated)?

Oh and I just realized that my comment sounds a bit off topic, but I did have an entire thing about the updates and how RP is concerned but my browser crashed and I didn't feel like retyping the entire thing.

RP2 has not been updated since 1.2.5
We aren't just talking about localized 1.4.x updates here.
She started working on the update, then Mojang updated faster and faster each time. She's got catch-up to do.
Lots of small changes make for one very big overhaul on her end.

You can't treat every mod as the same. It all depends on what code they modify. For example, redstone logic changes. If Redpower uses the redstone logic, but Portal gun does not; the portal gun mod will be updated much faster.

Slowpoke mentioned that he "hoped" it would be in the release. He mentioned they may make another beta pack for 1.4.6 and do a full release a week or two later.

Thing is, I'm not treating each mod the same. When the redstone logic change hits, yes, it will take her much longer to do and that will be completely understandable. I'm talking about the latest updates that changed baseline minecraft behavior that all mods had to adapt to. It's not like 1.4 dropped and she hadn't touched a line of code since 1.2.5, she had been working on it. The difference is the other modders understand that no matter how hard you try, software is going to have bugs in it. Most of them also choose to port the mod to a new version first, THEN add new content, not the other way around. This is just discussion on what the fellow above me said earlier. Will this now be the trend? Will people be locked onto 1.4.6 even when 1.5.4 is out, because a single mod is behind, ect. Something server owners need to ponder.

@Kugraw9 if you bothered to watch docm's interview with slowpoke he said that the redstone update does not affect redpower

Is the 'if you bothered' comment really needed? That's what I mean about the hostile community that follows this thing. I did watch the video. In fact, if you even look above, I stated very clearly I watched the video. I've also heard Dire say Redpower is coming soon about 3 times now. I also heard him say he hoped to start his lets play on the first of December. I've also heard IRC admins say they knew for a fact it'd come out for 1.4.5. I've heard a lot of things, what I expect to happen is now rather different, and odds are, SOMETHING about that patch will cause some new bug to hit Redpower that doesn't seem to effect any other mod.. as what apparently just happened in 1.4.6. Just because they suspect something (And yes this is suspect, the new redstone code isn't in their hands yet), doesn't mean it's a for sure.
