With all the updates being posted in a locked thread who would post in that thread in the first place.

No, the current thread would get moved and stay unlocked. It would function the same as to currently does, with both news and discussion going there. The locked threads would just be a daily recap thread, where it contains only the updates for that day.
The only way that anyone could get added is by ether arbitrary decisions or by favoritism. There is no way for anyone to ern the right in such an arrangement.
And even if there was what perimeters would you set?

Then let people volunteer to do the recap threads. Lock it at a 7 person team (one for each day of the week). If someone gets tired of it, then "resign" which then opens another volunteer spot. No favoritism. No "arbitrary" decisions.
Besides one important fact that you are all forgetting.
The system we have works. It works because of the way it is set up now.
Because everyone decided to pitch in and work together all on there own for no reason other than they wanted to help. They didn't do it for glory or privilege and in fact might have never posted if there was ever the promise of such a thing.

That system will not change. You missed that point in @Yusunoha's post. The current thread would remain unlocked for everyone to post news and discuss. The only threads that would be locked would be the daily recap threads, that way it's news, and news only.
The plain simple truth is that this thread was built by the community as a whole. And no person or persons has the right to take it away from them, from us.

Again, see my above point. You missed the entire opening to Yusunoha's post. No one is taking away the thread. It would simply be moved to a different subforum. It would still be open for discussion and news posts from everyone in the community. The recap threads are there for people to get just news without discussion, hence them being locked.

There isn't a set "news team", where they would be the only ones allowed to post news. There would be a team to take the news posts people have made, and stick them into a locked thread for that day. All they would have to do is go to said locked thread, quote all of the news posts the community has made in the current thread, and publish it. No one gets locked out of posting news, and people get either their news and discussion, or just news. Everyone wins that way.

Got a bloody and bound bee working in MagicBees. Very basic and only a 1000 LP cost (Obviously going to change, but for testing purposes)
Any suggestions for what they might produce, and breeding chains? Also, a family name for them? Color of the bees? (Hexcolor)

Although it is a good system, what is the actual purpose for changing it? IMO, it sounds like a lot more work than is necessary to "recap" the weeks news without having to scroll through a page or two of off-topic discussion, which is the only advantage of this system that I can plainly see.

People disliked the pages of discussion. It came about because the discussion has moved from here to the news thread, leading to 20+ pages for a single week. I'm fine with it, but I also don't care that much about updates.

Blood shards might be a nice thing for them to produce. Instead of having them produced in the altar, why not have them require a block that requires a specific altar tier, like bloodstone blocks or something.Alchemy reagents would also be a handy thing for them to produce, and for the higher-tier alchemy stuff the bee which produced the previous tier of reagent could be a parent bee. For family name Cruentis (latin for bloody, according to Google) seems like it would make sense, if it is not already taken.

Check if my fork for Magic Bees is still on bitbucket, i had a fully finished BM thing with it with 3 bees, had lines, items, productions and stuff there :p
Dunno if it's still there, though.

I honestly don't nor do I care. That has absolutely nothing to do with that post so stop nitpicking.
I am not nitpicking, I am annoyed at your usage of the word and am asking you to stop. Also, IDGAF if you don't care, do it anyway.

It makes about as much sense as referring to Minecraft as FTB. Just as there are other options to use IRC than MIRC, there are other launchers other than FTB for minecraft, including the vanilla launcher itself. It is not only incorrect terminology, it gives the appearance of gross ignorance.

Do you know what they were called? Cause I can't seem to locate them in the list of species.

Alrighty then. Just hopping in here to throw in a request that people keep the discussion courteous, I know people have it in them. But when it comes to irc clients pidgin ftw! ;)
On a separate note, would everyone consider 1.7.10 to be completely established?

It's very established, but there are a few mods that haven't updated. I'd say we're very close to it being completely established.

No words on Dartcraft. I really need my clipboard.

On that note, I see in TerraFirmaCraft that you get the full 3x3 crafting area as a permanent deal unless you die after updating to it. That would be awesome as a stand alone mod or part of some other mod. Hmmm....

I wouldn't. I've been playing SMP on it for a little bit now and am not impressed. Between various bugs, lack of features, and the general Mojang additions, I like 1.6 far more. I know the bugs will be fixed over time, but crashing because you click in a GUI isn't fun.

Honestly, I'm still in favor of a locked/permissioned thread for just updates. Let people request access to it, and revoke it if they aren't posting news. Reddit, IRC, Twitter, Minecraft forums, posts on here by mod authors in other threads, RFC 1149...all news is relevant. Posts of just gifs, jokes, and discussion can go in a thread like this. Update news by non-permission people can be posted in an unofficial thread and cross posted to the official one at some point. I don't know how the forums work with permissions, so it may require it's own subforum section. It seems like it'd be the least work for the mods to just add a few people to officially update, and shouldn't require too much upkeep. If people are worried about "favoritism", work on getting a good track record of posting just news on the unofficial thread.

Just my two cents. Yeah, this is a discussion forum, but it makes sense to have some official forums and threads for informational purposes.

This.

*Awesome explanation*

I personally like Padfoote's explanation of the idea a lot. It would keep the "What's New in Modded Minecraft" and "Recent Events Discussion" threads just the way they are, while still providing a useful service to the rest of the community. Additionally, it would mean a lot less legwork for me and the other forum mods, since we wouldn't have to go through the whole process of moving a hundred or more posts every day into the proper discussion topic (which is one reason I stopped doing it--as it is, I spend probably a third of my time on the forums paging through these two topics looking for problems, whereas back then it was more like 3/4 of my already limited time), freeing us up to look at other threads.

On the other hand, it would definitely have to be a team of people doing this, since any one person would, sooner or later, become completely overwhelmed. (Believe me, maintaining things like that is no joke, even with help.)

I can't really take credit for that, Yusunoha was the one that said it, I just explained it in a bit of a rant to make sure everyone got it.
