Um has anyone taken a look at the curse launcher lately?
It seems to have a ton of packs that I have never heard of. Including packs dedicated to subscriber servers and beta test packs. Are they just going to let any pack on there.
Not to mention it's a total disorganized mess.
The simplicity, the ease of finding what you are looking for, and the ability to see what mods are in a pack at a glance.
These are the hallmarks of the FTB launcher. These are what separates the launcher from other packs. And what made it better.

I haven't re-installed it since I initially looked at it?
Have they made any significant improvements?
Or has it gotten worse?

Select 'FTB Official Pack' from the category dropdown. Or search by name. Simple and easy to find what you want. The only difference is that third-party packs are easier to make and no longer require codes to see in the launcher.

It could probably use a 'version' filter, though.

That difficulty gap prevented a lot of generic useless and just plain bad packs from getting thrown in to the mix. The launcher has not bin up long and it already is getting bloated by randome packs

I haven't re-installed it since I initially looked at it?

Exactly the same no indication that they plan on changing or improving anything.
What has gotten worse is that many packs of suspect quality are being added.
No quality control no testing. Nothing.

I don't see any problem with that. Curse launcher isn't all curated and whatnot. It's just a launcher. To be honest I'm not quite sure how you got the idea that it'd be anything but that.

The people who approve packs don't have time to test the quality of a pack. That would take way too long and people who aren't experienced in making packs would be inherently disadvantaged.

Here's the thing. The TPPT isn't here to make sure only packs up to a certain quality make it on the FTB launcher. They're here to ensure the permissions for the mods being used are in order. You have their responsibilities confused with what you want to see. And they probably never will deny due to quality because that takes an absurd amount of time to test.

That's because that's not the point of the launcher. Honestly I don't use it like that. Curse has ALWAYS been about letting you get your updates to your mods. Ever since it started with WoW addons.

Also permissions to be used in a curse modpack are baked in when you host your mod on CurseForge, so there is NO moderation or curation required.

The best you're going to get is filtering based upon version and sorting based on popularity. Which having taken a look at Technic and ATL? Works just fine.

I also feel that anyone who had not visited/knew about that page before, will speak up louder than ever.
I started to read, then I realized what it was I was reading, and then left before I started to form so very strong ranting material...

You brought it up. You could have updated it, and left it so only people who went to your site, and looked specifically for that page (or stumbled upon it) knew what was there.
But there's probably a lot of people, including myself, who had never seen that page before. I understand you don't want "cretins" asking you the same question over and over, nor does any other mod dev (I assume).

I will shut up, because I obviously don't know what I am talking about.

Well, Jord hasn't seen it so while it's an improvement, Jord still sees it as unacceptable because, well, he's Jord. I don't know the exact reason he has a grudge against you.

I posted it here because 90% of the people who know me know of it, and several, @SynfulChaot being the most memorable, have been strong critics of it. This seemed the most appropriate place to post it.

But f*** me for wanting people to know I made an effort to satisfy more, I suppose.

Maybe kinda good for stress relief but leaving them up like that will not do that. It'll just make you feel worse when they ignore it.

The only thing you can do is except that derps and stupid will happen. And that there is nothing you can do to change that.
Or higher someone else to deal with it.

You should include that in the mod license, that you can't use your mods and complain.

I actually suggested something like that when I was talking about suggesting more pack-friendly mod rules. I was called "psycho crazy" by one user here and was accused of infringing on free speech.
