I've actually seen both of the aforementioned videos. And I have to say they're both very interesting and very true. I guess a good rule of thumb is.

If you're making a game that's supposed to be sexy, (Bayonetta/Senran Kagura/Your Favorite Traditional Fighting/RP Game here) then make characters as sexy as possible (BOTH men and women if you want a good scapegoat) and maybe a couple of normally attractive characters that everyone treats as NOT UGLY

But if you're making a game that is trying NOT to tackle or endorse any form of sexuality, you have 3 options:
1. Make all men without any muscle tone and all women flat chested
2. Make everyone wear full length clothing
3. Make some characters with one of the above and some with the other
4. Make people go through a Sanity test before playing the game

I can only odd

Also, violence against animals? *laughs* humans do less "humane" things to them all the time. We are terrible. Also, the women part, what...just what? Then confusing it with the real world *@Qazplm601s*

Again as I said in a earlier post "But this is ok because...?". Again for the women thing, only thing I can think of is possibly the whole "girl goes on server, gets called a **** and *****, and then they kill her character" which if anything is a gaming *cough* society *cough* thing in general that also happens to males often. Polictians are the worst at governing anything, yet we pay them to do this. I think it can be rounded up in the standard "you know nothing about this yet you think it is all bad at a glance" that happens for alot of things both now and in history (rock music, internet, computers, science that does not "agree" with everyone's image of the world, despite not actually going against it directly, and of course video games).

More things about thongssexuality in games!

Basically the fantasy characters have their place, but they create a stereotype that alienates both genders from each other in terms of gaming. Dan you are the man
I forgot about the nitpick I had with this one (Totally coming from a heavy bias. I write erotica. I accept that my views on sex probably aren't "moderate" and never will be).

The point he made about the character appearing topless in playboy tarnishing her "strong female" image. This is probably the actual case, but holy crap if it's not sad. It should never be the case that in order to be strong, women (even entirely fictional ones) can't also enjoy being sexuality incarnate. That's stupid and limits EVERYONE. Being physically attractive is a strength just like being smart, or being good at tennis, or being able to decapitate 15 zombies in 3.6 seconds with a rusty lawnmower blade tied to a bat, it shouldn't be demonized simply because it has been overly exploited in the past. Should it be seriously looked at because it's been the default go-to option for so long that you want to seriously think about it every time it comes up to make sure you really want to use it and aren't just following in the rut left by the 2+ decades of history and trend-setting before you? That was rhetorical, but the answer is "yes". But that doesn't mean it should be relegated to exile. That attitude is part of why American culture is so royally screwed up about sex, and its media representations as compared to so many other places in the world. We've had a history of puritanical thought/culture police keeping us from "that evil ____" for "our own good" and what do we get out of that? The natural response to forbidding something. Overindulgence and a skewed (or totally lacking) sense of balance and moderation.

Seriously though, Saints Row 3 does a great job at the no-sexism thing. Even the gimp house has both male and female gimps. The "whores" (their term, not mine) come in all makes and models, from thin and big-chested to fat and flat. Any character that matters doesn't wear overly revealing clothing, and the sexy bits cater to both men and women. It's a beautiful thing.

Can we do that? PLEASE?! I'm drooling here. More eye candy! Also, fair is totally fair, and daddy like :p
Funnest part about being bi. Those turnaround "examples" make people's points fail SO HARD against me.
It's like "Doesn't this make you disgusted?"
...
Um... no? It makes me horny.

Please try again next time with an actual argument that doesn't casually assume something about my sexuality? It's not like I'm not used to it by this point, what with either being nonexistant or being some kind of sex god with a massive harem in every city. Neither of which are true, but the contrast between the extremes is frightfully amusing.

I mostly agree. However, if it perpetuates stereotypes or uses women only as sex objects (does not include porn, as that is porn's intent) then it should be eradicated

It isn't an argument, it is just related.

Ey, I'm gay. I ain't complaining about it, and it is really sexy. But that's the frakking point. Females often appear in games with skimpy, revealing clothing. That's what that image is meant to portray.

EDIT: Females are made to look sexy, showing off the sexual bits. That's what the image does. And as I said earlier:
I mean I wouldn't complain or anything. I mean just imagine him running.

^ I knew this when Goreae posted the pic, which is why I didn't think he was assuming sexuality (which is always bad)

In theory, yes I do believe we should be able to make characters as sexy as we want (within reason) without having to sacrifice them as a strong character.

In practice, the average human is an idiot.

As someone who had to (and still has to) sit through a "christian school", truly only christian in name and the number of "I am christian and refuse to even accept that others think differently from me and are ok in the head" people we have here (nothing against christian or any religion as these kinds of people exist everywhere, sadly), and our version of sex ed was "don't do the dirty because you will more than likely become pregnant even with protection and here are some diseased privates to scare you off", who then goes and overhears the guess talking about how "great" that girl was last week from another school and swearing like a sailor. Funny thing is this is the least of the things that make we want to pull my hair out at this school:mad:: rant over.

Point is I wish people would stop pretending to be or think anything that they do not, as it only gets in the way and gives us who think about it stress related heart problems. Also, it would help or just end all this "that is bad because I think it is" that goes from sexuality to prefered food
I feel you there.

False, the average human is average :p But an average human is an idiot by our standard. Like how we would be idiots by Stephen Hawking's standards

Related to the topic post but unrelated to current conversation (no I'm not trying to change the subject, just remembered this), Turkey may be banning Minecraft for...wait for it... violence against animals, women(somehow, don't ask me), and are worried that the children will confuse a world made of a maximum of 32 bit textures (item frames) for the real world and act on these "violent acts". Given my knowledge of government officials anywhere, I would be more curious as to how they would ban this game, not why. I mean, what do you do, ban Minecraft.net, request Mojang/Microsoft black list their servers from Turkish IPs, fight off a hoard of children trying to beat them to death over this?

Actually the major objection was that it's a children's game (as in almost exclusively marketed to children) and it has "the violence" (excuse me as I dust myself off and pick myself up off the floor I was rolling on, laughing my ass off). I like Mojang/Microsoft's response

Mojang (apparently) said:
"Minecraft is enjoyed by many players in a wide variety of ways. Many enjoy the creative freedom that’s presented by Minecraft and its tools, some are more interested by the opportunity to explore a landscape without boundaries and to go on exciting adventures with friends. We encourage players to cooperate in order to succeed, whether they’re building, exploring, or adventuring.

"The world of Minecraft can be a dangerous place: it’s inhabited by scary, genderless monsters that come out at night. It might be necessary to defend against them to survive. If people find this level of fantasy conflict upsetting, we would encourage them to play in Creative Mode, or to enable the Peaceful setting. Both of these options will prevent monsters from appearing in the world."

It's the same thing as those church organizations (not bashing religion here. It just happens that at least in America, the "Christian" organizations are the ones that do this most often. Blame them. I happen to like the Abrahamic religions as written in their holy books) in the USA going "Pong is Vidjamagameee. Is make violent shootings! BAN BAN BAN!"

I see stuff like this, shake my head at those poor unfortunate souls (goddamnit Ursula. Why that song have to be so catchy?), and then laugh.
