wow, you take constructive criticism well. No wonder you like griefing mods.
Dude. Ease up a little, hey? He made a joke. It was a joke. He linked a mod pack that didn't have griefy mods and was also cute and silly and cartoony. There is no need to be butthurt or to insult him by suggesting he doesn't take constructive criticism when he has repeatedly done so in this thread, trying to tune the modpack to make it something that isn't easy, but isn't impossible either.
He didn't call you names, he didn't insult you, he just linked probably the most obviously easy-mode pack he could find. He has repeatedly stated that the modpack is MEANT to be somewhat hard. I am NOBODY'S idea of a hardcore MC player, I don't have the reflexes for PvP, etc., etc. If you watch my let's play you will see me die on-camera, several times, and you will see the occasional Journeymap 'death-mark' from when I died while resource-gathering between streams that I've forgotten to delete so it doesn't clutter things. You will hear words your mom doesn't approve up when it happens, but I don't stop and I don't throw hissy-fits about it. Dying is part of the game. It happens. We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and go on. It's obvious that in this pack you are expected to die a little, just look at the quest rewards. I think the way Drastic uses soulbound quest rewards to ensure that you can survive a bad respawn is a great thing.
That's not really the issue though. The problem with this pack is that from the very beginning you are thrown into such an unforgiving world without much direction or explanation, and mobs that just steamroll through your puny stone sword with no armor right as you jump through the portal. I'm all for difficulty, but difficulty is something that should be eased into, and this pack has very little of that. You have to draw people in and then progressively challenge them. This pack misses the point in that area.
And in basic MC you have no guidance, no "how-to", no questbook, you wander around punching trees and trying to build things and then night falls and the zombies come and you learn a valuable lesson. Yeah, bad spawns happen. I've talked about them happening here. And it has been toned down until it's pretty straightforward. The ONLY really tough spawns I've seen from the latest update (admittedly I only tried to make 8 worlds to see what they looked like) have been ones where there was lava right next to the destination portal and there wasn't anything to hide behind. Okay. That's just a bad worldgen. That can happen. Reroll.
If you don't want a difficult modpack, there are lots of easy modpacks around. I will continue to maintain that this is nowhere near as hard as many modpacks I've seen (consider how much you can screw up your first few days in Crash Landing and doom yourself thereby), and that it responds pretty well to having a plan, keeping in mind that your base needs to be defensible, etc.
It isn't hard to change the settings if you're convinced that you like the entire pack except for epic siege mobs, but that isn't the experience Drastic is aiming for, and that's fine. You are welcome to create your own modpack experience by adding or removing mods.
If you aren't comfortable with dying, if you ragequit when something you built gets blown up (Ohgod, creeper spawning inside an almost-finished statue built out of wool and clay...happened to me so many times), or you want mobs to be something you can just spam your sword-button at while standing behind a fence, this is probably not gonna work out for you, personally, but that doesn't mean it isn't the kind of mod other people are interested in.
Don't hate just because it isn't made with your personal level of difficulty in mind.
