Version: 1.6. The download link to the core library is broken currently due to the OP being unable to modify the OP without advanced knowledge of HTML due to the buggy MCF, though.
Reasons: I dunno. It adds a bunch of nice conveniences for Redstoners. Sure, MFRL (I think) adds a Block Breaker, but I've missed the Deployer ("Item Effector"/"Block Placer") and BTW-style detection.

Does Rednet add that? I've no idea. Guess I need to familiarize myself with MFRL again.

Version: 1.5 currently, but 1.6 is around the corner (the authors are having problems with school life, but they're working on it)
Reasons: This is a really cool mod. It adds a lot of stuff including: weasel, an alternate for computercraft, Hologram blocks, like the ones in secret rooms but without all the lag, Chimneys, iron stairs and platforms, which look super awesome, lasers, which is just like the old laser mod(http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1568979-dead-the-laser-mod/) but actually updated, redstone gates, much like the ones in redpower, but with some different stuff, a few cool and useful machines, like the the XP bank, which I like a lot, proximity detecters, which are pretty cool, a really awesome transportation system using belts, that looks cooler then buildcraft(IMO), and so much more stuff!

Reason(s): Highlands is a biome mod that should replace BoP. Highlands would work very well in the 1.6 packs ever since Highlands added their own wood and leaves. If the leading biome mod was changed for the 1.5 packs then it should be changed for the 1.6 packs.
