Last I checked the Chop golem core does use the Thaumium based Axe of the Stream to make it. At least it does in my game.
haven't gotten there yet, but I will have to. Need to automate wood cut to infernal furnace to automate herb essesnce. It kinda also makes since as I don't expect a halfling to get the top of my Greatwood trees I'm hoping to auto farm.[DOUBLEPOST=1392045102][/DOUBLEPOST]Last I checked the Chop golem core does use the Thaumium based Axe of the Stream to make it. well fart. I was hoping to not use MFR or have to check on my trees every 10 minutes with my lumber axe. but whatevs. The latest Thaumcraft version (4.0.5b) requires you to infuse a harvest core with 3 iron axes and an Axe of the Stream:

This weekend, I got my Impregnated Frame mass-production going. This requires a fair amount of string, which requires a way to produce said string. I wanted to weave as much "magic" into my world as possible, so I opted for Harvest Golems and the Lamp of Growth from TC4 to make cotton. So far, so good.
The problem I encountered was:
A) Harvest golems ignore Pam's HarvestCraft
B) Vanilla cotton seeds don't multiply
I'm pretty sure (A) is a TC4 + HarvestCraft interaction that might not be easy to fix/support. Perhaps lots of new code is needed there.
As for (B), I'm pretty sure this is config thing or a mod messing with the ratio of cotton seeds per broken cotton plant. In Vanilla, it's greater than 1. This is so you can increase your cotton seed supply from a (no pun intended) "seed" stock. In MF2, this ratio is *exactly* 1.
I had a starter supply of 19 cotton seeds from my earlier grass-breaking days when I was looking for food crop seeds. Those cotton seeds are rare drops in MF2. I did indeed get it working with vanilla cotton seeds, Harvest + Gather golems, and Lamp of Growth with automated system to feed it Herba Essentia, but the vanilla cotton seed "break" multiplier set to 1 was frustrating, to say the least.
The end result in MF2 is cotton is easier than vanilla when hand-broken. However, automating cotton production is more difficult than with vanilla mechanics and other mods/mod-packs.
Is cotton intended to work this way in MF2 ?
It will hurt me not if you do or do not. It will mean that if it isn't done, you won't really be able to automate steam power in a non techy fashion. But then again, thats why there are tech mods in the pack.[DOUBLEPOST=1392048686][/DOUBLEPOST]oh wait... does it take a vanilla axe to create a axe of the stream, thus why you can't golem wood cut? I guess that's what I'm ignoring here as I just found 2 in loot chests. Didn't think of that. Its ok. I'll reenable the iron axe. *sigh*

What are you defining as "vanilla" cotton? there's 2 or 3 types.
is there something you can change a recipe for (thought I saw somewhere else where you were able to make recipe changes or something.
The pink cotton seeds. In MF2, NEI + Waila shows them coming from Natura.
lol that comment is for other people. I don't go near the config folder. Its really the vanilla picks I have an issue with since if they are left at regular mining levels they take out a chunk of gameplay. The axes... not so much. I will add the axes back on the next update, for now I at least do not consider it cheating if you remove the lines in the Vanilla.cfg under the minetweaker config folder that block the recipes.
Just don't remove the lines that add recipes... those need to stay.
Ah those I can't control the seeds. Might see if they are ord dictionaryed to be the same as Harvestcraft ones.
Ah, snap. And, yeah, I tried oredict, and the HarvestCraft ones are different. Not a huge deal. One *could* even look at it as:
HavestCraft Cotton : relatively easy to produce by hand
Golem-capable and automatic cotton : much more rare
Also, there are many, many alternatives. Not a huge deal. I just though I'd mention it since it's the only thing (so far) I've run into that seemed even slightly "off". The 6+ weeks in MF2 so far have been very smooth in terms of things working as intended.
As it just so happens, I was *just* about to hit the Axe of the Stream for Lumberjack Golems, too. Very glad this got solved ;-)
*CelestialPhoenix fell into the void.
So, lamp of growth. Does it work with cane? I've got 2 growth lamps going off with plenty of herb ess. Its hardly doing anything. Does this thing work with just things that you bone meal? Is there anythong conflicting like what the wrath lap would do or something?
@YX33A, @trajing, @DrowElf
I'm going to assume bug since I walked down a cliff to the sea, before I was locked into position with my character bouncing about before dying with said message.
That night was when it got weird; blocks would reform after I mined them instead of dropping an item- before I was jumped by a large brainy zombie which landed 3 hits, then just stood there and let me bludgeon its face with an axe.
nah... I'm trying to use Forestry's bio fuel as a fuel source. I also want a source of herb essence to auto farm. Reed seems to be the only thing that works for both.I've only ever used lamp of growth for cotton, and it works beautifully there. Never tried it with sugarcane and it could indeed follow the bone meal implementation or the Hoe of Growth. Can you Hoe of Growth sugarcane ?
Are you trying to make paper or sugar from the sugarcane ?
If paper, try wood --> pulverizer --> wood chips --> 3x shapeless into 3x paper
If sugar, try Sugary Bees if you are into bees. The breeding required is not that deep:
Valiant + Diligent = Sweetened @ 15% (very easy)
Sweetened + Diligent = Sugary @ 15% (very easy)
The hardest part is finding Valiant and breeding up to Diligent.
