What's a good way to get ender pearls at early game in this pack? I couldn't find enough enderman to kill

Go to a Roguelike Tower, or the brick houses that are actually similar towers, and kill the spawning champions that drop Thaumcraft treasure bags. You can dig a hole for them to jump in for more convenient killing.

There are also the usual chests under certain Greatwood Trees and other worldgen.

I got my necessary pearls by creating a desert outpost (a 5x5x2 box accessed by a ladder, with fences on one of the blocks from the side, so as to have area view to snipe/attract Endermen). I just left a Blood Lamp and a Mystcraft linking book to go back and forth from my base.

Keep in mind that Mystcraft is a bit different on the new version, as you cannot create a linking book to use in the same dimension (by default; you can add items when creating the Linking Panel Page to add special effects). I had my system go by the Nether. Takes 2 more clicks =P

Is there a method of managing experience that isn't behind thaumcraft research?

Energy Ghosts from Menagerie drop tons (with an education 1 sword I go from 0 to 34 in a single kill) and I'd like to store it all Just In Case, but the AM2 journal is slow to add/remove experience.

There is a Botania flower, the Rosa Arcana, that will take your experience as you run by and turn it into mana. I don't think there is any way to turn mana back into XP though. You can use Botanias enchanting system and enchanted books to enchant items (without losing the book).

So, i have a problem.

Yesterday, i played the Modpack for quite a bit. I nicely expanded my Blood Altar, went into an dungeon, and got myself quite a bit of loot doing that. However, while dungeoning, i looked down one of those trappits (the ones with the pressure plates trying to push you down), and saw some small, pink, and immobile lights. I had no clue what they were, and shooting one of my magic spells seemed to make them vanish. I did not give them anymore attention. However, i found another strange occurence deeper down on the final level, with some zombies and skeletons trying to get something, while they were ignoring me (As if there was a villager, but skeletons do not try to kill villagers and no villager was in sight). One skeleton seemingly shot a hundred arrows into the ground, too. After mostly finishing the dungeon, i did some base work, like making an ritual of binding. However, it was... odd. The ritual deviner did not place blocks at first, but then i noticed that block were occupied, so i removed them. After trying to get the ritual deviner to work i noticed that suddenly the blocks were placed without my work, but the ritual worked fine. After some more building, i went to bed.

Next day, i tried to load my save, but it crashed on me. Shrugs, i said and loaded the next possible backup. But, that crashed again, with almost the same crashlog. ( The most notable difference is that in "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -47" the "-47" is "-167" instead.) After trying different backups, the latest i found working was the one from the day before yesterday! So, i guess either something weird happened with that ritual, or that dungeon messed something up, but i really don't know for sure. And yes, those roguelike dungeons sure are strange sometimes. Did i mention the magma slimes on the final level sometimes drop armor, as if they have been equiped with that?)

In the future, please use pastebin to post crashlogs. As to solving your problem, so you have any chunks loaded using the ftb utilities?

I don't like to sound noobish, but what is pastebin and why do i need to use it?

And i don't have any chunkloaders active that i know of... besides the poppet shelf (which i don't have), does simply magic even have chunkloaders? Are there blocks that are secretly chunkloaders?

Pastebin is a website for pasting large amounts of text, especially code. It also prevents forum formatting from screwing up and makes it easier to look at for those of us who try to read and find solutions to crash reports. Link: www.pastebin.com

There is definitely some chunk loading bug going on here, not sure what it is though.

FTB Utilities offers free chunk loading. Open your inventory, click the map icon to the left of the window and click to claim chunks. Once claimed CTRL+Space+click (I think; I have mine configured to only need space+click) the chunks you want to have loaded. Done.

I wonder if master ritual stones keep chunks loaded.

Has anyone managed to kill an elephant?

I'm sitting on a pillar in a Mystcraft age, shooting spells at one, and it just won't die. I've gained maybe 4 levels already, and 4% in two affinities.

(the spell is projectile-magic damage-force damage, and I'm now level 13...)

Nope. There was one in the way that wouldn't move when I was building, so I had to dig a hole under it and blow a hole in the ground to move it. It's still there.

I am vexed to see that violence is not solving the issue. Perhaps you need to use more violence. Of greater intensity, I'd wager.
