Where did you hear this? The guys who made modular systems are still making modular systems
It changed since. After a lot of sad faces from his ancient users it was continued :) But as far as I know did they do some major changes where updating isn't possible (in the terms of old content persisting).

Thats also untrue, the makers never dropped the mod, and have merely rewritten it, the only mod they dropped was modular furnaces to make modular storage

T1 has been just too much of a grind for me. We got our synthesizer last week and have been sieving gravel like maniacs, but it feels like we've made absolutely zero progress towards getting to Mars. The rocket requires astronomical amounts of iron. Improving our sieving infrastructure requires tons of iron. Powering our infrastructure not only requires even more iron, but seems like a lost cause with the extremely limited selection we have pre-Desh. Having to spam Quantum Entropy and/or Stirling Hydrogen doesn't feel like smarter power, just more and more grinding. We took a look at yet another recipe requiring tons of iron we don't have and just gave up on finishing. :/

^these should say enough.

We have tried updating it which resulted in all blocks from the mod being removed from the world. If can figure out a way which allows upgrading without causing pain for the players, please share.

What do you think, how much time did you spent on t1?

My initial 35 stirling generators was easy enough for me to make......

Also, are the Modular systems safe? I have been holding off so long on any storage system

Yes, the mod has been rewritten, and I have just seen Cait's post on the explanation, sorry, but the mod wasnt dropped, it was put to the side but development wasnt stopped

What does it matter? Both say, "Mod (updates) isn't going to work right now, and possibly for the near future." You are arguing semantics that don't matter much.

I think at the time the decision was made to start phasing out the mod, "continued development" wasn't as clear as you are making it out to be right now. Just consider the time period the posts were made instead of judging them for what you know now.

Also, if the mod owner is jumping around from project to project, what's to say he will fulfill his statements of continued development? Words are easy to say.

My simple benchmarking setup consisted of :

Perpetuum mobile (decompose water for a surplus on hydrogen) -> power 10 stirlings with it. At start it was buffed by a small treefarm, which was destroyed by a meteor later on but in the time it had filled nearly a barrel with carbon and hydrogen.

The production line was cobblegen, compressing it, decomposing it, synthing SiO2, synthing gravel, 4 autosieves. After 2-3h i was swimming in iron allready and copper+aluminum fell short (thats why you get some copperchests to decompose). In the middle of the process i threw in 4 more sieves (and some stirlings) and another 2h later i had the rocket ready to go. One day of idling and fixing stuff near the setup i had to start to void FE (non upgraded barrel).

Notice that this is an awfull setup. Obisidian->gravel is way better, also many use carrots for better power generation. You can also play around with stars and hope for a 100+rf one. You could even start decomposing parts of your base for extra iron. And never forget to hammer down the ore gravels, thats a 20-30% increase in yield.

With early-early gameplay this should result in a playtime ~8-10h to reach T2. With servers in mind a bit of elongated (not gregged) playtime this sounds okay for me. While the sieves are running you can beef up your base, play around with minechem and super massive stars, learn gc step by step if you dont allready are a pro at it.

Oh wait. Do i need to do the "I was bad at math. But..." quests?

Advice : Current version has the tardis from dalekmod craftable - this is a mistake. Hotfix is incoming. Dont use it if you dont want to spoil your progression, theres also some nasty crashes involved in using it.
