Experimenting with Vanilla blocks, tried adding as much depth as I could with the stairs and trapdoors hehe ^^", Stuck on what to do for the roof, as I've challenged myself with an oddly shaped one... :c

If it is these bricks you mean:

Then it is Project Red "Basalt Bricks" (Former RP2 "Basalt Bricks") with Soartex Fanver.

Actually, I was refering to @grizzlyatoms screenshots. They are the gray bricks from Extra utilities with Soartex Fanver resource pack. Sadly, Extrautilities use the vanilla brick texture and applies a 'filter' to the texture to change is colours, so I ended up with a awesome ExU texture but a not so great vanilla brick texture. ( I dont like the vanilla bricks from Soartex...)

Well unless something have changed dramatically in the 1.7 version of Soartex Fanver it is the Basalt Brick texture. It have always been the Basalt brick texture... It was the same basalt brick texture back in 1.4.7 for RP2 basalt bricks.

You have two different brick blocks in ExU. One us made with stone bricks and its the one you show where the texture is based in the stone bricks, the other is made with normal bricks, cooked clay and it has a different texture.

Well, may as well start off here! First post and all, it's not much but I decided to go ahead and take a different approach with my thaumcraft bases. They're always going to be underground base, but with the addition of the new 'maze' like dimension and the blocks that came with it, well obviously I had to relocate my infusion room to what I hope is a rather unique design!
CQnrPRT.png

The new infusion room. Some Chisel 2 blocks also used for the runes where the pedestals are. The squid? ....well I figured why not!

PAC9x6M.png

Using some more Chisel 2 blocks and some decocraft....uh....decorations (along with bibliocraft chairs) I made some sort of 'meeting room'. I'm tending to stick with that chequerboard style using the ancient and arcane stone!

As a lil side note (image!?).....this can have it's own spoiler. I don't know why I did this. I used up so many unstable ingots for this....and it haunts me every single time I step outside. O_O
CJ4X3fS.png

That factory can be for either an edit or another reply once I'm happy with the exterior and done most of the interior!
So yeah, that happened. )_) I'll post more once I do more!

This is using the Wanderlust Reloaded pack for anyone who wishes to know!

Never really posted any of my many bases.

Anyways here's the beginning of my end base. (FTB Infinity 1.2.1, GrassCraft server)
As you can see it's not nearly finished, the chests on the left and the right are just temporary until I figure something out.

Ok, so. No pictures currently...but I've had a brainwave!

I'll sum it up in one word. Warped Village.

Now, I don't mean all purple and flashy you're-gonna-die-instantly kind, but I figured it's just a fancy name for what I had in mind. May change it to something else once I start building, but essentially it'll be a large underground area with an NPC village type of layout but instead it'll be using various TC blocks such as ancient stone, crushed stone, etc. All those fancy rustic looking blocks! May use chisel 2 limestone too, just to give it that really old feel! Kinda like my infusion altar, except less......idk. Less 'alive' looking. Or idk, this is all random idea plotting here!

....ok fine, I'll not let this be merely a wall of rambling thoughts!

Have a teaser of the factory exterior.

Edit: [7/03/2015]
So I've been playing around with a few designs, due to the location I've had to have this ungodly tiny 'starter' area. All it's going to have though is merely an abandoned building (of which lacks much details but what can be done?) but also got some sort of fluid pouring out. I used molten obsidian due to the look of it and the lighting it gives off! Next thing you'll notice in the following preview picture will be the 'pillar' by the corner, that's chisel 2 glass which has been cut down and placed around the glowing crushed stone.

Anywho enough reading! Here's the first....rather blank, WIP picture!

Inspired by @rhn's awesome base while he's playing with a different biome mod, I decided to add ATG onto my current world to give it some interesting mountains, there's some really great terrain so I decided to build my base into one, trying to make use of the terrain around, which is a bit of a pain because I'm absolutely terrible at building.

I was lucky enough to spawn next to a magical forest with some silverwoods and greatwoods, I guess I'll be getting into ThaumCraft, and with Forbidden Magic I might be an evil wizard. Wait, what's that at the top of the hill?

aGkVBG7.jpg

What can be more evil than living inside a skull?! At the bottom there is my entire current base, three chests, a transmutation tablet (that I've been using in moderation purely for getting decorative materials since I don't want to have to go mining for a ton of marble), and a couple of basic Ender IO machines.

JBYgwal.jpg

Right on the other side of this mountain is a pretty big village with most different buildings a village can have (it goes a bit off below the screen too, extending down the hill). There's even a cave that goes from the skull straight to the village!

uqC9RDV.jpg

Only just started this world today, will be experimenting with building designs for the inside of my skull cave lair thing, but not sure what to do with that to be honest.

Finally found a good seed for my new train world. Hilariously, after lots of train related ones, my username here turned out perfect for the job. :D Nice flat meadow biome, with surface lava pools. I'd show off my new base, but I'm still on Step 1: Build Base. :D

I'm new to the game ( about 6 months ) and to this forum. I wanted to share what I am trying to build on a dedicated, legit, server. We're running a slightly modified Direwolf20 1.7xx Modpack.

I've not used the spoiler option before on a forum so this may not go as planned :) Apologies if I fudge it a bit.

Starting with my original 9x9 Direwolf20 approved digs. I went up one level and down a few :)

A level below this has the power supply and secondary machines for ingot automation in bulk. Strictly early game but effective for me.
17041867238_dfb304f425_b.jpg

Quite a ways below this is the compact tree farm that supplies all the charcoal for this and my generators to run my ic2 machines.
17203691126_09fb3928cc_b.jpg

I'm not familiar with all the energy options yet so I've learned this way and optimized it as far as I could given my experience and space constraints of the base itself.
Below this is the machines that make it work. It's not elegant at all. Just function over form. I'm working on that though! :)

You can just make out my mine entrance to the left.
17227939972_f2621e6215_b.jpg

This shows my mystcraft room and portal room along with a huge time sink and less than stellar ( to me at least ) emc generating machine. At least I can say I built it I suppose...
it also shows another epic fail for me. My "why the hell wont it work" squid pool. Is there a trick? I even made it nice! It STARTED with 4 nice squid that I trapped when I built it and then they up and disappeared on me. In the distance is my 25x25 biogen power source.

Below it has one BioFuel Reactor into 10 BioFuel Generators. This is going to power my daughters base that she has planned. I peeked at it and it's pretty cool so far for a 12 year old :D

You can see the door to her base just past the battery cell

Next posting will have the newest thing I've been working on.

So I found a cool place via Mystcraft to build a more advanced structure than my original 9x9. I decided to go with a slightly fantasy-ish St. Petersburgh Russia architechture. Ambitious for a newb like me but go big or go home! It's not done as you will see, but I'm fleshing it out. I really REALLY like the vista. I am not happy with the entry staircase after having built it. I think it needs to be grander and maybe have a view pool in front as well as bushes. So much to do! :D
So the base of operations is here. can you see it? Ignore that bit to the left ;)
17043413169_85688e2b13_b.jpg

Hmm what's that?

This took me forever to learn how to do correctly. It's all redstone run, as my brother said, "old school". I wasn't playing back then I just knew I wanted a hidden door so googled it, I'm not gonna lie! :D Still it was a major undertaking for me as I understood little of it at first. The stairs at the top moving up/down in time with the walls pushing/pulling was a trial. It was so rewarding when I managed to get it right!
17203643896_82743cb046_b.jpg

Ok so on to the newest structure. Inside this hidden base is little more than a workshop not unlike my 9x9 on the overworld.

This thing is huge! It's taken a bit more than 2 months real time for me to gather materials and construct. It's still not done as you will see!

I desperately wanted that fantasy glass Direwolf20 used in his letsplay season..7? I could not for the life of me figure out how to make it. The idea of being able to pass through it as well as how it looks has me Jonesing (sic) badly.

This is the base of the tower. I'm not at all certain what I'm putting in here :) It's a sort of grand entry way with it's massive windows and towering ceiling.
17041816178_156f070a95_b.jpg

The main part of the building where all the pods are joined. The glowstone glass in the doorways is there to keep blazes ( cold? Frost?) from spawning. They are a temporary solution. My bed is just about the only thing in here at the moment.
17042041680_8883086e9e_b.jpg

Outside looking in.
17227869262_76a9a9afbf_b.jpg

A bit of a vanity thing here... Still, it doesn't take anything away.... does it? :D
17227865052_4f1b9ce686_b.jpg

Inside the royal penthouse :p I originally had a glass ceiling but didn't like the look at all. It really needed to match the outside pods imo. Breaking all that glass after spending all that time was a heart breaker. Still, it had to be right. I'm glad I did it now. It looks "correct".
17042043550_5737d0dcbf_b.jpg

A pod ceiling.
17041810708_6f53630031_b.jpg

16607140694_9575839c28_b.jpg

The unfinished bits. I need to gather more resources. I can't imagine there being much more gold and marble in the world after what I've done.
16609379933_498c60edf7_b.jpg

Well that's it. My first 6 months playing minecraft encapsulated.
