PMing Greg honestly wouldn't change anything. The guy feeds off of drama, and he'd probably just put it on the forums for everyone to see.
It would probably be trivial for RG to prevent GT from loading (I didn't necessarily mean a crash); plus, if he continued his )*!@ (which, by all evidence, it seems he will), RG will have more than enough reason to see greg off from the IC2 forums altogether, forcing Greg to get his )!@#( and freeload somewhere else.
Look, this not a thread angry at Greg The Man. This is a thread saying what Greg did was unacceptable. Just because he did something bad doesn't mean that it's okay to start doing it to him.
If RichardG PMs Greg that RG is going to ban Greg from the IC2 Forums and make IC2 incompatible with GT, I'm pretty sure the Greg will do a little more than care. And even if he doesn't, RG can always go on with what he said in the PM (Although that isn't necessarily a good option, as we can see, these types of things stir up a lot of trouble).
Oh, I know. In hindsight, I probably could have worded it better.
Still, something has to be done about this.
Honestly, I think everyone should just forget about GT altogether. Greg has no power if no one cares about him any longer.
Meh, this thread is kinda pointless at this point, honestly. Greg has removed the code (at least he says he has), which means GT will probably continue on with FTB. It'll just be up to us, the players, to remove the mod if we don't like it. And no, other mods/modders doing what greg has done in any way is not a proper response. The only people that suffer is the players.
I hope Greg just goes away.
And that someone else makes a "slow down teching" mod.
I like some of the functionality of FTB. I could appreciate even his harshest nerfs; coming from a rogue-like tradition, I like unnecessarily hard things just for teh lulz.
But greg's behaviour is unforgivable. Inserting malware is just... beyond. At least SirSengir's response and the aftermatch was a bit more constructive, this is just... wow.

The code is still there.
It's just inactive.
Meaning that he can reactivate it at any point and crash the client for whatever reason.
And yet, here we are, whit the same old GT haters talking among themselves for pages and pages about how they hate GT and want it to spot existing, I would be marvelous for this forum if GT was forgotten and half the threads on the front page are about other subjects than "I HATE GREGTECH!1!1!".
According to Greg, it's gone. Unless he's simply lying, which is quite possible.

(ItemID-Conflicts can break Worlds, so better detect that before the User accidently breaks his World)Lots of people use these premade modpacks because they're too lazy/computer-illiterate to put modpacks together themselves. Including GregTech in the pack automatically forces his ideas of "balance" on a lot of people.
Greg's dynamic config is totally enormous and not obviously named. I'll test tonight. I suspect what he thinks works is actually bugged.
But I also suspect he selectively quoted because he doesn't care to respond. Which is fine. I'm sure he's tired of hearing that and the way he plays IS to bring in other content from modders and then tweak it to his spec.
Same old GT haters? I used to enjoy GT- because it actually offered something.
All my ethical qualms with GT aside (and they are numerous and plentiful, at this point), GT has ceased to even be a fun mod whatsoever. Greg literally has started adding nerfs to add grind for the sake of grinding (making macerator higher tier is one thing, making you get 2 planks for 1 log... seriously?), and has not only f-ed over IC2 itself, but basically added a bunch of seemingly never-going-to-be-finished content which, despite taking hours to grind for, literally serves no purpose but allowing you to grind (surprise!) to the next stage, until you finally hit the final stage, where instead of being rewarded with more grinding, you get literally jack shit as a reward.
It's not even a grind where you get something cool, like skills in MMORPGs. It's a grind for the sake of grinding- and I know I'm no masochist.
I have played with GT enable and without. However this intentional malicious code is a problem. He no longer has my trust, and I will simply choose to remove GT from any modpack I play in the future.
yes in an ideal world, but we dont live in one atm, untill then..
