I absolutely love the challenge gregtech adds... I wish ftb was actually more difficult. I was recently playing on a TPPI server... Unfortunately... I must say I was thoroughly disappointing... Only because in bronze age, of gregtech the only machine needed to make was the blast furnace. All the rest were subpar to the other mods that were in the packs abilities for early game. That really disappointed me, because I enjoy a very difficult modpack that has extreme longevity to get to endgame results... TPPI at first I thought was that, and in results was 4 days...

Wow, the old thread.

But apparently there's been some huge overhauls for 1.7 GregTech. I feel like @SatanicSanta knows more?

If you want a pack that is very excellent for GT, I recommend only adding Flaxbeard's Steam Power, IC2 and some addons (Nuclear Control maybe?) in terms of tech mods. The others always seem to overclass GT bronze age and early game GT. FSP is meant to be a very unpowerful mod, while it just adds some neat mechanics- not trying to one-up other mods.

Not necessarily 1.7, but GT5, which was in 1.6.4 IIRC.
GT 5 is 1.7, GT 4 is 1.6.4 and earlier. GT 5 > GT 4 in pretty much every way.

Alright, no more strikethroughs! GT 5 is the bestest, and is 1.7.

[20:28:01] <@WalrusPony> GT4 is 1.6.4 and earlier
[20:28:54] <@WalrusPony> GT3 is MC 1.5.2
[20:29:08] <@WalrusPony> GT2 is MC 1.4.7
[20:29:58] <@WalrusPony> GT1 is MC 1.3

@retep998 help! I know nothing!

@SatanicSanta I don't know why you recommend FSP. It doesn't really add anything GT doesn't have besides the exosuit. I'd personally recommend getting Forestry and Railcraft with GregTech, but minetweak a few things, such as the rolling machine and RC blast furnace so you don't sidestep the GT versions. Also PFAA/COG works really well with GregTech if you want some realistic variety to your underground digging. Definitely Carpenter's Blocks because of the sheer aesthetics you can achieve with that mod. Also if you aren't the kind of person that loves manually managing hundreds of chests and complex sorting setups you'll probably want to get AE2 which isn't quite as OP as the original and really is quite helpful (obviously disable the grindstone). With that sort of minimal setup you'll have many months of gameplay to look forward to.

I dont mind harder recipes, but that should be without GT, GT adds noting but frustration to my game. Make tiny piles of this, make tiny piles of that, combine a with b makes c. Last night i was in TPPI pack working towards a quarrie, had all parts made, took me pretty long, then i saw i could not craft it, bc somehow its locked somewhere.. Not my type of mod. But i do agee that things should be harder , but not if it frustrating people. I play for fun only and not to get frustrated with GT :p

1.6 Gregtech is like a 12 year old kid. Not fully matured yet. In 1.7 Gregtech, it's much more fleshed out. But I will agree it's VERY grindy.
