Best advice(a few pages back) in this thread is... if gregcrap is installed ignore IC2 in the "beginning" and go with TE. The only thing greg does is increase the time it takes to do something and there are always alternative routes to go, which makes the mod useless.
Note: Lava is always worth 20k in a geothermal generator REGARDLESS of how you supply it. You do *not* get more EU by connecting a pipe to the generator. Just make a test world and try it yourself. If you want you can even use a liquid transposer to *empty* cells, not sure if this is working as intended, but you'll get the cells back.
<edit> Forgot to mention peat is a very interesting fuel resource. It's worth 5k eu if you burn it in a generator. What makes it quite good is that it grows very fast and you can easily exploit 1 peat bog/turbuary to work with 3 farms stacked(one space in between) on top of each others. It's quite efficient, just use a few peat-fired engines to support the farm itself.
<edit2> For the above to work you obviously need bog earth. My personal preference is making a few moisteners, the more the merrier, supply wheat and have it convert it to mulch. You'll use the mulch in a carpenter set up with sand/dirt to create the bog earth. It takes 4 sand, 4 dirt and 1 mulch to create 8 bog. When the turbuary farms the bog you'll get 1 piece of dirt back. In other words you won't be "wasting" any dirt. You can always pulverize or macerate cobble to get more sand, or just farm a bunch of sand with whatever tool you have.
And last note is that you'll get more "power" out of the peat if you use it in a peat engine, rather than a generator. But nothing stops us from using the peat in a ic2 generator.
