It's the same phenomenon that causes everyone to use Morph and Hats.

Sorry, I just haven't heard anything from FZ since like 1.5.x. I had thought the dev simply got tired and didn't update. Not trying to be harsh, just honestly surprised.[DOUBLEPOST=1402883195][/DOUBLEPOST]As much as I dislike FZ, the opening of his post is a bit harsh.
I refuse to use either Morph or Hats, personally. The former... has balance issues with the mod list I generally play with. The latter is just.. silly. It adds zero content other than silly hats. It's the same phenomenon that causes everyone to use Morph and Hats.
I use Hats because it's funny, but the lack of a Santa Hat really bums me outBecause JABBA is made by a mod author which is in contact with the FTB team.

This is a good a very valid point. If you are looking for a barrel mod install better barrels or JABBA not factorization as factorization adds a ton of stuff (And let's be honest who legitimately uses the things in factorization and cannot go without them.) The stuff in factorization while cool is done better by other modders. (Ex. Ore doubling/tripling (right now ther is even pentupling and decupling ores), Power system, e-furnaces). There is really no use for factorization except for maybe that click sound that it makes when it loads your game.[DOUBLEPOST=1402886588][/DOUBLEPOST]Wait, factorization is still a thing? Wow.
Personally, I'd go for JABBA because using FZ for barrels means actually installing FZ, which is something I prefer to not do. With JABBA, I see zero uses for anything in FZ that is not done better and more efficiently with another mod.
It's fun to turn off the special abilities you get from morph so you have to get them from those mods.I use Hats because it's funny, but the lack of a Santa Hat really bums me out
Morph is just bleh. So many mods add the exact same functionality, just with better balance (Witchery, Advanced Genetics, etc.), but that's another conversation.
Lol, that comes from Factorization? There is really no use for factorization except for maybe that click sound that it makes when it loads your game.
I actually love some of the other stuff from Factorization. I love the solar boilers as well as servos. I even like the ore multiplying, though I wish it was *lot* faster for the crystallizer stage.
<snip> I also like JABBA's dollys immensely. A great system for moving chests and barrels neatly and easily. If IronChests or Factorization had a dolly equivalent, then I'd probably not run JABBA as I *do* like the other stuff Factorization has. I do think it's a massively underappreciated mod.
One thing I prefer Factorization Barrels over JABBA is that the barrel texture reflects the wood/planks you've made them from. That's quite clever, and lets you do more themed builds. I do miss that when using just JABBA.
Yep, sometimes I install factorization just for that purpose. I just watch videos and when I hear a click I go to Minecraft .[DOUBLEPOST=1402920483][/DOUBLEPOST]Lol, that comes from Factorization?
Factorization has a barrel upgrade to make the barrels store more. But everything else is correct .[DOUBLEPOST=1402920590][/DOUBLEPOST]First, I like the FZ barrels. Despite having JABBA on our server I prefer FZ barrels as they give me a manual sense of items I am accumulating and I plan housekeeping around that.
So, what can JABBA give you in terms of gameplay?
If these points mean something to you in designing your gameplay, then by all means go JABBA, else I think FZ will fit the barrel bill fine.
- If you want to provide a utility to your players to have a single barrel hold more than 64 stacks of any item, JABBA gives you the ability.
- Also, a redsrone upgrade can make the JABBA barrels send redstone signals denoting if they're full or not.
- You can also make JABBA barrels behave like a weird cross b/w a tesseract and enderchest but for just one item, from your quarries.
- The JABBA dolly allows you to transport chests w/o losing their contents and also allows you to move spawners.
If I missed something, others can please add to the list.
You could always take the texture file from factorization and make it JABBA's as well. One thing I prefer Factorization Barrels over JABBA is that the barrel texture reflects the wood/planks you've made them from. Doesn't work that way. Jabba has a single texture for the wood sides/top, with a dynamic texture for it's trim. FZ only has a texture for it's trim, and uses the texture for it's sides/top based on the material you crafted it withYou could always take the texture file from factorization and make it JABBA's as well.
I was implying you go out of your way and do all that and make it work. It is rather simple though.Doesn't work that way. Having retextured the Jabba Barrels, it's not just a case of manipulating FZ texture files, FZ barrel appearance is handled by the code itself, so not so simple...I was implying you go out of your way and do all that and make it work. It is rather simple though.
We all know that. I am saying have the FZ barrel top texture overlay normal wood. And put it in the JABBA barrel's place. The way FZ barrels work is that they have NBT tags for the side and top textures. They are automatically set to what you crafted them with.
But then you'd still have only one different barrel at a time. You might as well use resource packs at that point. We all know that. I am saying have the FZ barrel top texture overlay normal wood. And put it in the JABBA barrel's place.
Huh? What are you saying? But then you'd still have only one different barrel at a time. You might as well use resource packs at that point.
