Both? I mean, I really like the way FZ barrels look, and at the same time, I want upgradeability beyond just a double barrel. I do on occasion find I'm storing more than two barrels, but less than a DSU worth of things. Sand for example. Comparator abilities are handy, as is the ability to have redstone emit on a full barrel. Being able to tell AE to stop making sand is as valuable as the ability to tell it to start making sand.

I may as well mention what I needed comparator functionality for. I process reduced silver, lead, cobalt, ardite and dark iron chunks in crystallisers. I use a FZ servo to automate this. But servos are quite power hungry so, given that I don't have a constant stream of ore into my base (especially those rare ones) I don't want my servo running all the time. So there is a point on my servo rail that the servo rail can only pass if the supply barrels have any reduced chunks in them. (The five barrels are tested thanks to comparators and an effective OR gate).

I could have used chests but barrels blessedly take up a full block*, and don't look stupid in the context as a result.

*Edit: block not back
