If the world was flat, we would be technologically advanced, since we could launch rockets sideways.

Why don't we launch space rockets sideways?

Because that's really inefficient on fuel usage. Not to mention that you'd probably end up going in a circle inside the atmosphere, anyway, therefore wasting all your fuel.

Why do people know so little about orbital mechanics and stuff?
