Yes, it is perfectly fine to talk about other launchers on here, this place has really become a forum to talk about mods in general! :p
As long as you don't compare launchers, it's completely permitted.
Sorry for referencing this with no relevance, but it is one of the reasons why I love these forums. It's not like some other forums where if you mention a competitor they proceed to murder you. Also, the community is open to help people who use other launchers making us helpful to others besides the FTB community.

Whats the latest version of Bibliocraft for 1.6.4 please? [official web is down for me]
Yeah, it goes down sometimes, maybe grab the latest version off of FTB Monster?
It's down for me too actually.

Just write a note to yourself to remember to get it when the site comes back online. :)

I've never used an FTB pack and I'm here all the time helping out

I'm not familiar with him. I presume he's a Youtuber? You should let him know that his world might be destroyed. :p

Hypnotizd is a YTer from the Hermitcraft server. I think he already knows the risks for his base and may be working to set up a new one before its too late. After he finishes his inter-city move this next week, perhaps.

I have what appears to be clams right outside my ocean house, where I plan to build a mob grinder. What mod are these things from, and how to I remove them? Iron pick is either really slow or simply impossible. I'm using FTB monster.

Those are probably Oysters from Mariculture.

They take a while to break with a pick or a power fist, not sure if there's a quicker tool but they do break.

Break the block below them, or remove the water source above them. They will pop off. Much quicker than mining them up :p

They are minable with any pick, but they have like 25F hardness. For comparison, Obsidian is 50F, Stone is 1.5F, Dispensers are 3.5F, Iron Ore is 3.0F.

My cpu usage is like 90 percent in the windows cpu meter.
That is quite high. Investing in a new CPU might increase performance. Mojang recommends a Intel i3* or Athlon II @ 2.80GHz, a GeForce 2xx/Radeon 5xxx or higher and 4GB of RAM. Your processor is a Pentium E2180 @ 2.0GHz. Of course, clock speed is not the only important aspect but it gives a rough estimate. Your CPU is 2-3 years older than the models they recommend. What is your video card?

*They are seemingly referring to the second-generation model. The current generation is 4.

Rainbow Forest manually spawns them to prevent taint from changing the biome, which can be disabled in the config. I'm not sure if it's considered magical, though.
Magical Biomes are biomes that have the magical flag, namely. It does thus is a magical biome. Finding what biome has what flag is easy with the NEI biome data.
Not a problem, I was sorting through all this stuff anyway.

I believe Rainbow Forest is defined as a magic biome; Thaumcraft's purified blooms or whatever (the ones you normally have to make in a crucible) grow there, which would seem to be a strong indicator.
Those were needed before Reika made the Biome even more powerful by making the Rainbow Trees(aka those trees that grow into the ground a bit and drop every type of vanilla dye and golden apples of both kinds) fight taint, and Mystcraft Instability. According to what I recall Reika saying on the matter. Those blooms aren't needed anymore there. They still light it up and are somewhat nice since TC 4.1 or so made them drop as those instead of shimerblooms.

Not so simple question. But I wanted to try something different for my 1.7 world and that was to make a base in the nether. Now I know technically anything is possible. But what should I take note for/account for? I know I can't put water in the nether so Im unsure what to do for food there. I'm also unsure of how spawning works in the nether. Do mobs follow the can't spawn in light rule so if I torch my place up I dont need to worry about random pigmen spawning in my base? Also, can ghasts see through glass. And anything else I may not be taking into account? Is the nether always counted as night or day or does it alternate?

If I could get neutral mobs into the nether, does it adversely affect them? Can I build a portal to other maps in the nether(Aka Twilight Forest portal/The End Portal)

Im kinda bored of the overworld and Twilight Forest has no nice areas to make a base in.

For food: zombie pigmen drop rotten flesh which can be made into zombie jerky (nourishing and not poisonous), or you can farm mushrooms.

If you want to grow crops in the absence of water, fertilised soil works as farmland even without water.

Not 100% sure but I think zomble pigmen will only spawn on netherrack, and as usual if you make your floor out of bottom half slabs nothing can spawn on it anyway.

And no, ghasts can't see through blocks, even if those blocks are transparent.

Livestock can survive in the nether, but if you implant grass for them it wont grow back when they eat it iirc.

How could you get fertilised soil in the nether though? And I was going to make an actual base so I wouldnt be able to make a halfslab floor sadly. =( Hrm. This seems hard. Cool.

Craft the soil and bring it into the Nether. You could use something that prevents mobs spawning in its radius, such as MFFS or Magnum Torches.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Mooshrooms give mushroom stew.
Crops will grow without water- just a little slow.
Oak/fruit trees should grow ok too.

If updated - Use forestry; the multifarms rely on liquid 'piped' water rather than placed water blocks.
Also bees can be bred to survive the nether, or alvearies have climate control.
