I know that mobs, when killed, drop TC aspect orbs for refilling a wand in the hotbar.
Zombies drop Aer, Terra, Aqua, and Perditio. Which mobs drop Ordo and Ignis?

Break the block below them, or remove the water source above them. They will pop off. Much quicker than mining them up :p

They are minable with any pick, but they have like 25F hardness. For comparison, Obsidian is 50F, Stone is 1.5F, Dispensers are 3.5F, Iron Ore is 3.0F.

Thanks. I ended up trying to build around it, and when I placed a block above it it just popped off. I didn't know Java also requires the 'f' after float numbers, or else they are treated as doubles.

Mooshrooms give mushroom stew.
Crops will grow without water- just a little slow.
Oak/fruit trees should grow ok too.

If updated - Use forestry; the multifarms rely on liquid 'piped' water rather than placed water blocks.
Also bees can be bred to survive the nether, or alvearies have climate control.

Foresty is a mod Im not using in 1.7. I never really got into it. So I figured lemme just not add it then.

But if trees grow naturally then, then I can certainly use apple trees. Its what Im using now.

Wheat just grows slower without water, according to what I read. And I can just bonemeal the melon plants and let those grow normally. Which is pretty much all my food needs.

Now I assume portals to other realms will work fine in the nether so I can make my other world portals in there. This is kinda cool. Finally feels like Im doing something different in minecraft. I wish there was a netherores mod for 1.7.2 but.. meh, you cant have it all.

Not so simple question. But I wanted to try something different for my 1.7 world and that was to make a base in the nether. Now I know technically anything is possible. But what should I take note for/account for? I know I can't put water in the nether so Im unsure what to do for food there. I'm also unsure of how spawning works in the nether. Do mobs follow the can't spawn in light rule so if I torch my place up I dont need to worry about random pigmen spawning in my base? Also, can ghasts see through glass. And anything else I may not be taking into account? Is the nether always counted as night or day or does it alternate?

If I could get neutral mobs into the nether, does it adversely affect them? Can I build a portal to other maps in the nether(Aka Twilight Forest portal/The End Portal)

Im kinda bored of the overworld and Twilight Forest has no nice areas to make a base in.

I know everything you've asked has pretty much been covered, but if you want an example of what this is like:

http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/thr...-overrated-nether-only-picture-through.44414/

Oh, and ghasts can't see through glass.

Guess one last question. Anyone on 1.7 know of a good nether/the end mod? I havent spawned those in yet so I can still install mods that affect them I would think. Mostly looking for a mod that might add ores to them or something.

My
That is quite high. Investing in a new CPU might increase performance. Mojang recommends a Intel i3* or Athlon II @ 2.80GHz, a GeForce 2xx/Radeon 5xxx or higher and 4GB of RAM. Your processor is a Pentium E2180 @ 2.0GHz. Of course, clock speed is not the only important aspect but it gives a rough estimate. Your CPU is 2-3 years older than the models they recommend. What is your video card?

*They are seemingly referring to the second-generation model. The current generation is 4.
graphics is a gforce 8400 gs.

Bump, and...
Which Buildcraft should I use for 1.7? Is BC6 stable enough, or should I stick with 5?

Are you talking about the minigame where you have to connect the dots? You can learn about that and more here.

Nah, that's 4.0. I'm pretty sure most (if not all) FTB packs are running 4.1, which is a matching game of aspects. Basically, connect aspects that share aspects in some way (ignis will connect with lux, but ignis and aer won't go together since they aren't composed of each other). The goal is to have all of the starting aspects connect somewhere along the line with the others through a chain of interconnecting aspects.

Your card is worse than the 9600 GT, which is the minimum listed on the Mojang website.

I can run my custom 96 mods, modpack at about 60 fps! My complete specs are an intel e2180 a gforce 8400 gs, and 2gb of ram! 32 bit windows 7 LOL, can you believe it?!?!

Ah, I remember. I dabbled in it but prefer the tech mods.

That is strange indeed. The only minimum requirement you meet is RAM. What sort of sorcery are you using?

What would be a cheap cpu upgrade that would run monster?
You might want to ask future tech questions in the Tech section.

What do you consider to be cheap and what motherboard do you have? This website shows a good overview of different tiers of hardware. Hover over the text in the columns and it will describe it. Of course, you should research components yourself too.

I don't meet that many minimum requirements either, but when we're talking about stuff that's running on Java and not optimized for, say, an 8 core CPU, the older models often have a lot more raw power. I've mentioned this before, but my CPU is the very last iteration of the Core 2 Quad, and on cpu-intensive applications (like bitcoin mining) it can keep pace with the 8 core i7 in my laptop.

Some of that is custom settings and cooling, but the fact is that newer isn't always better.

They are indeed not optimized for multicore CPUs, but recent i5s and i7s are very good at single-thread performance too. I don't think any current i7 has 8 physical cores. Which model do you have? Of course newer is not always better, but advances in micro-architecture may increase performance.

Doesn't bitcoin mining use the GPU? CPU mining is much slower in comparison.
