I've had issues with this before. All my recipes in the MAC use Minecraft Glass, Minecraft Jungle Planks, Minecraft Cobblestone, and Minecraft Sticks just for that reason. Unfortunately, i can say that this isn't the issue. I wish it were something this simple and obvious.
Huh. Well... The only other thing I can think of is... is something causing your network to flicker on and off when you try to craft something, like a power outage or a dark cable being toggled? Either would cancel any crafting jobs- do you have just barely enough power flowing to your network to keep it running when it's doing nothing, but not enough to run the MAC? If you stand somewhere where you can see the front of one of your ME devices (another terminal, for instance) out of the side of your screen while you interact with your terminal, does the other device flicker?

Perhaps more importantly, what does you Crafting Monitor say after you've requested a piston? Does it say you're missing anything, or does it show that the job got cancelled?

I have a 3x3x3 big reactor powering it and a few machines for auto-crafting, but the reactor's internal battery is always full. I don't have any dark cables, and everything is so close together on my world that i can't go far enough away for any part of it to unload.

When i ask for pistons, it will craft as many as it can without crafting components. It won't craft Iron/aluminum blocks into ingots or logs into planks. I just used pistons as an example because it was something that actually happened, but it does the same thing with everything i tell it to craft. If i go to the crafting monitor, then it has X pistons waiting for X jungle planks. It doesn't cancel the crafting, but it can't seem to finish it either.

I've noticed that behavior too when requesting processors to me made, or items containing processors. The crafting chain will just get "stuck", usually cancelling and restarting the craft will fix it, I even fixed it once by manually placing the uncooked processor into the furnace, it seemed to wake up and resume crafting, including making more processors.

One thing I do do that helps a bit is always keep a supply of a material on hand. For example the silicon, I don't craft it on request, instead I dedicate one redstone furnace to fill with quartz dust, and storage bus the output. That way the system always has at least one stack of the resource available (alongside what is stored on disks), with another stack ready to be cooked up on use.

This also goes really well with a level emitter and with the machine set to require a redstone signal. I was doing that in my AS play-through to keep gravel, sand, glass, and the harvestcraft water and milk buckets always available. Doesn't even need a storage bus then -- I was outputting straight to an ME interface.

Only thing then with the Level Emitter is working out how to fit it into your build, not always possible. A stack of material is usually good enough for normal crafting. Anything beyond that then needs a better solution, where level emitters can come into play and/or dedicated areas/builds.

Question:
For some reason no special village houses spawn in my Monster world except TiCo houses. In particular I have yet not seen any Forestry bee keeper or Mystcraft houses and corresponding villagers in any of the villages I have found. Any idea what could be causing this? Haven't been able to find any configs for the the buildings to spawn in either of the mods configs.

Question:
I need something to apply a constant, powerful means of regeneration while I use the blood altar. What's a good solution?

Doesn't the Geostrata lamps supply something like Regeneration 3?
If not then there is ofc also the Imperial bees, but think that is only Regeneration 1.

I suppose if you had/wanted to build the infrastructure for it, you could also have a Dispenser(s) firing off Splash healing potions II towards you. Maybe combine it with regeneration from some source. Think that could be some pretty potent healing.

I have neither of those readily available. Geostrata isn't in this pack.

As @CptSpike said then, the vanilla beacon is probably your best bet for passive constant effect.

Although I would love to see a setup that constantly brews potions and chucks them in your face to heal you :p

Did anyone else play in 1.5 without IC2? I'm just curious as I thought all of the IC2-basing was a 1.6 thing, but I've disliked it since 1.4.

If i'm going to go out of my way and craft all the components of something for it, then why not just craft it all myself? If i'll have to make all of it's components, then clicking craft and shift-clicking the recipe take up roughly the same time. After that, it's just shift-clicking everything into your inventory which you'd probably do anyway.

So, this is definitely a bug and with this bug happening with the last AE update till 1.7, it's safe to assume that the MAC is almost completely useless in most of the modpacks.

Keeping a stock of materials such as silicon sitting in a furnace is just more efficient, compared to waiting for the MAC to get 1 silicon smelted at a time when it needs it. Any crafting that requires an external machine (smelting/pulverzing, etc) just adds delay to the crafting due to waiting for that external machine.

The MAC is not useless, just like any piece of technology, not 100% reliable. Been doing a lot of setting up & crafting with my MAC in arg Skies last night (tesseracts), not a single problem.

It is not useless. There are certain situations where certain bugs arises, but those few situations(mostly when crafting recipes requests the same items on different tiers of the craft. This will cause one tier of the craft to steal the item that was just crafted for the other tier, leaving that tier still waiting for its queued item to arrive(ME precise bus's are a good example of this, using basic processers in crafting the basic bus and then in upgrading it to precise)) can be circumvented as Golrith explained. But that it cant craft something as simple as planks etc. is not normal, and would guess you either have some flaw in your ME system or you are using a bugged version of AE.

This is why I couldn't leave IC behind entirely - fully overclocked machinery makes processing pretty much instant :D it's always my 'end game' goal
