This is why I couldn't leave IC behind entirely - fully overclocked machinery makes processing pretty much instant :D it's always my 'end game' goal

As much as I agree with this, there is still handling time with items getting into and out of machines etc. And even "fully" overclocked machines still have processing time. So common crafting components are well worth keeping in stock at all time. For example glass, planks, smooth Stone etc. Also keeping ME Basic Processors in stock to dramatically speed up crafting of ME items and fix the ME precice bus crafting bug.

Oh yes of course, I keep a level of certain bits in stock all the time and while IC machines are hilariously fast they're certainly not instantaneous. It's a shame Mek isn't in FTB packs by default, the machines are almost a replacement for IC then I could ditch it all together

Unless you are on a server, there's nothing stopping you from adding Mek. It's replaced IC2 in my heart.

IMHO:
Er... regarding the AE crafting issues, I can't find it ATM, but I seem to recall that AlgorithmX2 had a message about the most recent 1.6.4 versions of AE.
I believe that it came up at about the same time as he added Spatial storage. The quote I remember is: " (something to do with crafting) ... if you're okay with smacking the network every so often to reboot it (or words to this effect)." So, he knows about the crafting hang, at least, but didn't actually fix it.
Tentative conclusion: not a bug, per se, but a "feature". Or an "ascended glitch".

Yeah that is another(different than the "same item in different tiers of the craft" bug) present bug. Once in a while the system will just completely freeze up and not craft anything. Nothing you can do about it but force a reboot of the network(break and replace a part of the network). Or people have suggested adding a Dark Cable triggered with a timer to periodically automatically break and reconnect the network to cause this reboot. It will probably(seem to see evidence to the contrary but not tested it really yet) cancel any queued crafts though. So bit of a pain if you are crafting long and complex crafts like HV solar arrays etc.

Question:
Seen in some videos that people have sloped monitors/information panels. How is that achieved? Is it through carpenters blocks and enabling tile entities to be used?

Nuclear Control adds them. :)
I think they're called "Information Panel"s.

Carpenters blocks allows tile entities? For real? I could have a pyramid shaped pulverizer? ... Ooooh

Yeah there is a config option for it :p Comes with warnings though for understandable reasons lol.
I would guess that it just use the textures to make a shape looking like the tile entity. Doubt it would actually be functional.

You can't have machines covering a Carpenter's Block.
So, no, that isn't possible I'm afraid. :)

EDIT: Apparently there is a config option for it.... :P

From CarpentersBlocks.cfg
"cover restriction" {
# Setting this to false will allow nearly any block to be used as cover. Results will vary, and crashes may occur if disabled.
B:"Restrict covers that have tile entities"=true
}
Again, I wouldn't expect it to work as functional tile entities. Think slopes using Pulverizer textures instead(much like you can enable microblocks to use machines textures).

Ah yes that would make sense. Aww. Still looking forward to giving it a whirl later
