Nope. That's the best bit about the upgrade, the princess and any drones that will stack with each other get dropped right back into the breeding slots rather than the output slots.

You'll end up with 63 drones in the drone slot but anything beyond that will get pulled by your conduits.

Schweet! Thanks! Made six more hives last night, and automation here I come!

(I know people use Bees for multiple hard-to-get resources, I'm just trying to breed Caffeinated Bees, which make coffee powder, so I can use the milk from the mob farm and make coffee.)

Where would you be without coffee to keep you awake at night while browsing those complicated websites that take hours to figure out? :D

I'm not sure I'd go for "Bee" coffee... Sounds kinda second rate.

I like "A" coffee myself, fresh roasted and ground just before brewing :D

This Bovine Bee sounds less aerodynamic than a Honey Bee... too much air resistance. When I was in school, Honey Bees were theoretically unable to fly, or at least the principles of said flight were unknown.

Nobody ever told the bees, though :D

That reminds of this quote from /u/wiresegal on reddit:

"According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground.
The bee, of course, flies anyway...
Because bees don't care what humans think is impossible."

I was thinking of what Douglas Adams said, if one happens to find oneself flying: 'Do not listen to what anybody says to you at this point because they are unlikely to say anything helpful. They are most likely to say something along the lines of "Good God, you can't possibly be flying!" It is vitally important not to believe them or they will suddenly be right.'

Honey bees again? They have hair; the hair makes air eddies; the air eddies have less resistance/volume (probably the wrong term); that gives a little extra lift.

The reality of it would be that there would be too many packs in need of updates, and too few staff to go around updating them. That means nothing much would change regarding modpack updates! :D

Curse had people whose job was to develop and maintain modpacks. They basically brought many/most of the big names in minecraft under their umbrella. Then, like a record company, they seem to have taken distribution rights in exchange for promotion, and later said "Ok, bye".

Now we're seeing these modpacks becoming out of date.

They know that now... But when I was in school (1962 - 1976) it was still a mystery, even in the "Time/Life" science books.

I was referring to these "Bovine Bees" someone mentioned. I don't think they could fly because of the weight of the horns on their heads and the aerodynamic comment was due to the drag caused by their udders. How do you milk the little buggers anyway? We don't have real crafting using Chisels & Bits yet... :D

It's FtB who manage their packs and decide when to stop to work on new ones, and the creators of 3rd party packs decide for their packs, not Curse. I could make a comparison here in bad taste, but I won't.

Need a modpack suggestion.

My GF enjoys playing Infinity with me on my server, but would like to have a bit more guidance. Can someone suggest a good pack with HQM that isn't set to "LOLUGONNADIE" mode? Hell, to get her started I had to promise to put it to peaceful... So no insane mobs, no why am I always hungry, no only allowed to eat 1 item to get saturation, then not allowed to eat that item again until you've eaten your way through all of Pam's Harvestcraft food....

Currently futzing around with Ferret Business.. not bad... but would like other suggestions.

You know.... :)

If all else fails, you could roll your own and maybe setup some sort of regular goals. Like, for the first few playthrus, you steadily work thru Thermal Expansion, then after that, you start to roll in some AgriCraft, then MFR, then fold that into learning RotaryCraft. Of course, this is just an example, but basically, you could come up with what you feel the natural progression should be and work goals around that. Would prolly be easier than learning how to HQM on your own.

I thank you for your suggestion, but I would like her to have the ability to follow and learn mods via hqm when I'm not around too :)

I could guide her through the steps, but she likes to have the feeling of "oh, I get it now" on her own :)

Any other suggestions?

Maybe the 1st Agrarian Skies? There was a lot of work put in that HQM to guide you. And mobs aren't a worry until you make the base large enough and make the 1st mob farm.

AgSkies? Wasn't that Jaded's map where you start on a "skyblock" of useless clay and a "fake river" of blue clay?

News flash: mobs *can* spawn on that island at night. If you are in the center of the island, no; if you are at one edge looking out, yes.

Also: Jaded made significant tweaks to her packs. The progression you do in her packs is not the normal progression, and will give you bad/wrong expectation.

===

HQM is not the right quest mod for what you want, sorry.
There is no way to combine any two things together.
So any HQM questline has to be customized for what you want from scratch.

Look into "Better Questing", http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...tter-questing-a-new-and-improved-questing-mod, as a quest mod that actually allows things to be combined. So, you might find someone that will make a forestry BQ quest line, someone that will make a RoC quest line, someone that will make an AE quest line, etc -- and those can be combined together.

Can someone suggest a good pack with HQM that isn't set to "LOLUGONNADIE" mode? ... no why am I always hungry, no only allowed to eat 1 item to get saturation, then not allowed to eat that item again until you've eaten your way through all of Pam's Harvestcraft food....

Oh come on. Vanilla has:
Raw beef
Steak
Raw porkchop
Cooked porkchop
Carrots
Bread
Potato
Baked Potato
Pumpkin pie
Water melon
Cookies
Raw fish
Cooked fish
Apples
Cooked chicken

raw chicken
zombie flesh
milk bucket

That's off the top of my head, before adding in two new fish (raw and cooked), and mutton (raw and cooked) in the newer minecraft.

Vanilla has enough option for spice of life. The issue is just that SoL seemed to assume that you had Pam's for all the cooking levels / food quality, and if you didn't, you were SOL using SoL.

(humor :)

So i was fiddling with Curse and java and stuff, and I've come to realize that when Curse launches Minecraft, it isn't using the java that I installed into my computer (which is kept up to date and currently is java version 8 update 101). Instead, when Curse runs the Minecraft launcher, you can click "Edit Profile" and see that it is using an older version of java that Curse installed into its own directory (C:\Curse\Minecraft\Install\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_25) which you can see is java version 8 update 25.

Why would Curse do this? Why would they run an outdated version of java with potential security risks from a folder inside their Curse folder? Why don't they use the most-currently-updated java version that is already installed on my computer? I don't think this is good practice on Curse's behalf. Can anyone explain this to me?

Also, even after changing the java location and clicking "Save Profile", the next time I run Curse, the Profile settings have changed right back to using the outdated Curse java files. Maddening.

Also, I'm having an issue when trying to run the "All The Mods" modpack thru Curse (which is why I've been digging into java like the good old days LOL). I created a new world but immediately saw that I have serious graphics glitching going on with the ice blocks in the ocean, trying to figure out why. Changing to the updated java didn't help at all, nor did boosting the java memory parameter to 6 gigs of ram.

oops I hit reply instead of editing my post. LOL Oh well.

Edit: Perhaps its because newer java versions can't run older modpacks, so Curse needs to have a version that can run them? I dunno, I'm just trying to guess at reasons.

I think you answered it Henry, thanks. So Mojang is forcing use of Java8update25? Never heard that before, isn't that a security risk as we get farther away in time from when update 25 was released?
