I've attempted to associate Tengwar-like symbols to English phonemes in a way that makes more sense (to me, at least) than the association Tolkien created a couple of times, but I never wrote anything down and it was too much information to keep all in my head, so I never got very far.

I also came up with a way to represent numbers in base 16 using Tengwar-like symbols. Because hex is so much better than decimal...

NICE :D

Yep!

Have you ever looked at the pronunciation guide and symbols in any dictionaries? Referencing in particular something like the Shortened Oxford Dictionary, which has a whole thing at the start dedicated to it.

... ugh. I even "broke" the bracket-formatting so it would not show up at all.

Right. Sure.

This old dog did NOT yet learn a gnu trick.

Do gnu's come out in the dark?

42.

(My family actually has a "What is the difference between a duck?" running joke.)

Has anyone else ever come up with an artificial language or numbering system (even just a little bit), just for funsies?
Not quite, but I "encrypt" things I'd prefer to be private in Old English runes.

Why do Endermen shake when you look at them?
(BTW the Old English word endemann means someone "living in end times").
