Exactly. Though depending on your method of resource gathering (automated sifting vs. laser drill), it may be feasible to use ingot casts from a Deep Tank, there should be enough space for two casts per metal.

BTW, how would you go about automating ingot casts? The drain ejects a cast's worth of metal with a redstone pulse, right? OK, then I'd need a redstone clock or a PRC. Will a hopper under the casting table automatically draw the ingots down as with the blocks, or will you need an AA for that?
you can draw ingots with any item piping of choice from sides of casting table. haven't tried pulling from bottom, so hopper may also work.

you can also use any piping of choice to pour metals into a cast, which allows you to ignore space limitation of smeltery or whatever.
if you are trying using fluidacts it's highly advised to have a buffer(with filtering of course) for each metal before dedicated casts. and don't forget to filter blood, if you're using smeltery.

with AE it's somewhat simpler, because you can just th network for buffering and then use export buses to fill the casts.

subnet that gets the blocks and stores the uncrafted ingots (auto uncrafted with export bus by the subnet) that can be pulled out with storage buses attached to an interface
I like that idea...a subnetwork with an ME Interface or two, recipes to craft ingots from blocks in the interface, and export them right into an ME Interface of the main network.

Hoppers or ducting work from the bottom of the casting table and basin...and the Mariculture versions too!

I am trying to minimize my duct usage. It's not something you tend to notice in other modpacks since there are various alternatives for moving things around, but TE ducts cause considerable block update lag if used in significant amounts. So things will go into the ME network as soon as feasible.

Also, what's the best way automatically uncraft the metal blocks coming out of the high oven into ingots? Unfortunately, there is no "auto-unpacker". The alternatives I see are either 9 cyclic assemblers or two ME interfaces set to "always craft". The problem with the latter option is that it's a constant drain on the ME network's cpu time, and have been known to slow response time particularly when syncing with NEI. Are there other ways?

Why not just store the blocks and throw 9 uncrafting recipes in the MAC?

Ugh, I was hoping to avoid this.

With my treefarm setup, I use many Tesseracts to collect the items and use duct filters to process the items in different locations. As long as I give each item a place to go, everything seems to be working OK with no items getting lost in ducts and causing lag. I was hoping to use a similar idea for exporting stuff around the base.

I have 1 Tesseract [Exports] sending out wood and charcoal blocks right now. I connected the catchers [tesseracts where the items come out] first and put a filter saying either wood [going into a CA] or charcoal blocks [high oven duct set to fuel] on each. I then setup the pitcher to export the wood/charcoal. The CA is getting wood, but the high oven isn't getting charcoal?

Do I need to use one tesseract per exported item?

Edit: just played with the high oven duct [fat end or thin...makes no difference]. Threw on a hopper buffer and took off the filter...just getting wood [oh well].

are you using AE too export?
if so, there is your problem. It will export the item in the first slot until its out

Yup, AE export buses into the tesseracts. Guess I should have made that clear. So I should be able to use a single tesseract channel for exports, I just need to use multiple export buses! Thanks!

Well, thanks if it works as your comment sparked my inventive muse. If it doesn't work...KROM

Edit: KROM it is. It works, then it jamz.

Because that's not so useful if you're crafting things with no stored pattern - which still makes up a significant portion of my crafting even when I have the MAC fully developed (which I haven't yet in this game). I should say, though, that auto-casting from a Deep Tank works perfectly. You won't even need a redstone pulse, just put the ingot cast on the table and whitelist the metal on a fluiduct with a servo set to always on, then use an itemduct with a servo to pump the ingot ouf from the side. It may be a bit slow, but then resources don't usually come in at more than an ingot per three seconds.

He was actually meaning using extracells to import the molten metal into your network, and use fluid export busses into the casts, but if that solves a problem for you as well, that's good ^^

Without any upgrades it is very slow. If I made it faster, a fully sped up one would be too fast.
Just got around to making a Block Caster in my latest iteration [still being fed by a Smeltry...sorry :(]. I just noticed how slow this thing is [something like 16s per block]. Is this normal? Do your speed upgrades work on this block too?

I'm about to start a big reactor. Will a laser drill with four prechargers give me enough yellorium to keep the reactor running continuously without a lens?

without a lens, no idea.. but I've got one with six lime lens in, and there's so much more than I'd ever use, I could probably scale it back to 3 lens and still be very comfortable within my usage limits (a 15kRf/t passive reactor design). I'd imagine for a smaller reactor, It'd fill the requirements, and if not, there's a renewable recipe which you can use to create yellorium dust anyhow.

it would have to be at least 10k rf/t reactor, to just run the prechargers. knowing consumption rate of fuel, you can calculate required income rate, but with actual income rate being unknown i don't think it an easy task to solve.

speaking of reactors, is there an optimal setup for inefficient reactor i.e. cyanite generator?

i found that solid core of rods(3x3, 5x5 etc) with empty space between core and walls to be the best so far to waste fuel. but is there a way to improve it?

I didn't know that. I have more lead than I know what to do with, and all I need to add is a Blaze spawner for the sulfur and/or sifting enough gravel or sand (I forget) for the coal? All right, the laser drill has just become a luxury that can wait. Getting the pink slimeballs is a hassle anyway (assuming the precharger recipe hasn't changed in AgS).

@Loufmier:
Keep the core heat up. So what you did should be almost optimal. Though given that building an efficient reactor and building an inefficient one is about an equal amount of work, why would you want the inefficient one? It's not like I did with the fusion reactor, where making just a tritium breeder I could dispense with the whole cooling and power generating machinery.

i want it to generate cyanite, which is needed for turbines. after some testing i've come to these conclusions:
1 the lower amount of fuel reactor has the lower is fuel burnup.
2 adding cooling port rises temperature, resulting in more higher burnup

given equal rod height, with area of core being different the fuel burnup is following 2x2<3x3<4x4<5x5 etc?.

however with 1st conclusion in mind i don't think it's a good idea to have a wide reactor, because a lot of yellorium will be just sitting as a dead weight. so a few smaller but higher reactors(core 4x4x6 with 2x2 core) is a better idea.

coming along with a request for some debugging assistance. i'm just learning to figure out how to read crash files to figure out what's going on, but some are beyond me understanding. a friend of mine keeps having ticking memory connection crashes, followed by a number of errors.

This one deleted his world

coming along with a request for some debugging assistance. i'm just learning to figure out how to read crash files to figure out what's going on, but some are beyond me understanding. a friend of mine keeps having ticking memory connection crashes, followed by a number of errors.

This one deleted his world

I'm not exactly an expert, but it seems that the last two were caused by some sort of container, possibly in you inventory. I think the most likely candidates are a warp book, any backpack type item, or a strongbox. Again i'm not sure, but storing or trashing those types of items may help.

Wow, getting the cryotheum for my reactor is annoyingly slow. Is there any other method to obtain Niter except pulverizing sandstone? I guess I could look for Nether saltpeter ore, but my so far only expedition into the Nether ended with a swift death.

i guess not.
but what's the problem with pulverizing sandstone? you can easily mass produce it that way with just power.

Nether exploring gear [minimum]:
Invar Armor [or better]
Armored Jetpack - full charge/set to hover [lower energy usage and safer]
Magnet of choice
Silk Touch Pickaxe or Any Hammer

Fish stay away from hammers/silky picks [mostly]. Silky Picks require Cobalt?/greater head to harvest all ore blocks. If you get in trouble, run away! The Nether is nasty in AgS but I've never had any trouble playing it smart. And Armored Resonant Jetpack is only 20 Enderium bars [very good investment]!
