My preference is EnderIO conduits in Self-feed mode, and then let the apiary fill. Then I take the bees and analyze them, and cross-breed manually.

Do yourself a favor and make an ABee2 system. AE mini-network with some power, a storage bus on an Apiarist Chest, and a terminal, gives you the ability to search through the bees in the chest without sitting there paging through the entire thing for each bee visually.

Annoyingly Buildcraft skipped 1.10, which means you can't get the Apiarist Pipe which has built-in functionality for this sort of thing.

A sepperate AE2 network dedicated to bees sounds like a good plan. I'll find this out myself when I get home but I'm wondering how AE2 treats bees...

I find the best way to deal with this is
1. Actually use the escritoire with the drones you make. Learning a research note from it improves your chance of a mutation by 5%.
2. Scale Horizontally: Create 10 or more Apiaries and a similar number of Bee Houses. Stock all the apiaries with bees you are trying to mutate, and bee houses with bees that have a species mutation on only 1 allele that you are trying to purify.
3. Use Apiarists Chests to quickly test bees to see if they are pure bred or have a 2nd species allele before wasting honey drops analyzing them.
4. Spare drones go back into research to get more honey combs and better mutation % rates.
5. You can use ignoble princesses in bee houses to breed with drones that are carrying a species mutation you want to purify. Just don't put them in apiaries by mistake.
6. Signs help you remember which apiaries and bee houses are doing what.

I had never heard of the escritoire! I just googled it and it looks great. Thanks for all the tips there - they all sound logical to me but I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions once I really get going ;)

Here is episode 44 by the way! Today I unveil my brand new 80's printing press style factory floor - the home for all the fancy immersive engineering machines ;)

Automated arc furnace :D I exaggerated the return loops to make it easier to follow. Quite chuffed with myself for working it out from scratch

Fantastic... how does it do what it's supposed to do? And just for reference, what is it supposed to do? (And I thought Open Computers was confusing.)
I'm going to cover it in in depth in a proper how-to and I'll give it an overview I'm ep45.

Essentially it grabs whatever is in the inventory above and distributes it evenly into the Arc Furnace making use of its ability to cook 12 things at a time.

I have set the arc furnace slot location as a variable. At the start the program sets the variable to 0 and then moves 1 item from the crate above into the Arc Furnace slot and increases the variable by 1. It then checks if the variable is 12 (max slots in the furnace). If not it loops back to pick up another item and place it in the arc furnace. If the program detects thst the variable has reached 12 it will reset.

Why are these forums so buggy. They keep making me unfollow threads... On other forums even though the thread is like 5 months old if someone necros it I get an alert why.

I also did see a major tip for youtube. Make the channel about you and not the game. If your channel is based on the game and not the person playing it if you ever say I'm bored of Minecraft lets play Overwatch. Your fans won't react well, but if your channel is based on you, we'll watch no matter what because we watch for your commentary and not really the game.

I do think this is not a bad tip; it’s borne out quite well so far with regards to people who used to do a lot of Minecraft and now do other things too. But it doesn’t feel to me like CG’s channel is about Minecraft (despite his very awesome channel art), that’s just what he’s doing right now! :)

You have a good point there mate, I'll have a think about it.

It doesn't hurt that he's also very good at explaining things, much like Direwolf, so it'll matter less what he's playing than that he's playing it at all.

Thanks man, that's probably the nicest thing anyone has said :')
Im in it because the accent is just so very right when @Closet Gamer starts raging at some broken mod mechanic or something...
Wait until I cover bee's in a bit more detail - I was spitting feathers last night xD

I think trying to browse the forums on mobile is the worst part of having lost my LAN card. The one on the Motherboard was broken when I installed it, and it'll be Tuesday at the earliest before a new one gets here.

You're welcome for the compliment, and welcome to bees. The buzzing pain only gets worse. But now I believe you can get Apiaries which I am informed are vastly better than Apiaries.
