I made a max-size beacon once, with some spare diamond blocks I had lying around. Then I learned that they only work aboveground.
well to be more detailed. The beacon block itslef has to have line of sight with the sky.
You can have one underground if you give it a 1x1 hole to the serface.
Good thing we don't have Ars any more!Yeah well I wanted the beam to go up through the middle of my Ars nexus. Which means I would have needed to break the nexus. Oh and it was under my underwater base...
Oh yeah, I never actually noticed that the nexus was gone when I was on yesterday, cos the pillars are still there and everything. I guess we can redesign the room a bit now. Maybe put clouds for moving between floors more easily.Good thing we don't have Ars any more!
Sent from boobs (because why not?)
Make a glass pillar to the top, as saice did for his underwater bees?
Or do these not work like that?
They work through fences afaik.
If you do that, you earned your AFK time.
1. get a portal/gravity gun or wand of dislocation
2. get a skeleton spawner and move it to the nether
3. do some sort of farm/spawning room and afk for 10 mins
4. use a looting sword
5. get shitload of skulls
6. encase the wither in a warded room underground and kill him
7. make the beacon pyramid out of arcane woodblocks
8. ???
9. profit!
Neah it was mentioned, people just seem to have skipped =\.I think a puddle of spring water is an easier option.
Others may disagree.
HOLY SHIT GREG STAHP RIGHT NOW
GREG
FOR GOD'S SAKE
HAVE MERCY
ON ALL OF US
NOT IN ONE'S MISTAKE
DO NOT FORCE US TO EITHER ADVENTURE TO DEATH/MAKE AN INDUSTRIAL BLAST FURNACE TO GET A FREAKING MACERATOR!
PLEASE
HAVE MERCY ON OUR SOUL
OH LORD OF NERF AND POWER
PLEASE
STAHP
I just tried to go all IC2 this time around and not do the TE thing at all. To build a macerator, you need 3 diamonds. Expensive, but I can live with that. But, you also need a circuit, but not a basic circuit, but and advanced circuit. For an advanced circuit, you need glowstone. To get glowstone, you need to go to the nether, but to get to the nether, you now need steel... To make steel, you need an industrial blast furnace.....all of this for a macerator to double your ores.
So the options are hope you find a dungeon or village with a steel ingot, play with magic bees and stumble upon a glowstone bee hive, get blaze powder from cinderpearls, and slimeballs to make a RC blast furnace to make steel, then go to the nether. Find a witch(I think?), use TE instead of ic2.
All this trouble because he thought it was a good idea to make flint and steel from actual steel. If the macerator recipe just had a regular circuit, it wouldn't be too bad, but this... meh.
I think a puddle of spring water is an easier option.

You don't need flint&steel to make fire. There are other ways. (And depending on what mods you have, there's other ways to get steel.)
If you can get blaze powder from cinderpearls, then you might as well just make a firecharge.

Place wood block behind portal. Place lava in front of portal. Wait.I think it makes sense, I mean I detest GT's exploding machines as much as anyone, but who doesn't have a bleeding roof on their factory? who has open air factories?
This really is a non issue, I mean it's an asinine change I agree. But really not worth discussing. (still good to warn people though)
Do you have any idea how scarce cinderpearls becomes on an established SMP server... Then again; The thing about established servers is that there are players that already have surpluses of materials. So you could always beg the server veterans for that steel nugget/ blaze rods... The only problem with that is it's undignified, lol.
I don't like having to rely on the kindness of other players.
By just IC2 do you mean IC2 and GT? (Or am I ignorant of Greg making direct changes to IC2 separate to GT?)I know there are other ways to make fire.. It's just frustrating that Greg made it so difficult to do with just ic2 and vanilla. I was going to try and go EU/ic2 only, but the recent changes has made this extremely difficult.
My point was that if you can get cinderpearls for an RC blast furnace you might as well go the FAR easier route and make a firecharge.Do you have any idea how scarce cinderpearls becomes on an established SMP server...
