I just realized the importance of the super crafting grid and why it SHOULD be one of the first page quest requirements.

after growing a few crops of cactus and Manuel putting them in the crafting table for water I was like; Am I going to have to place this bucket in the crafting table for every bucket of water I want? I then shrugged my shoulders and walked past my super crafting grid which I hung on the wall and forgot about and repeated the process for a few more crops of cactus. I then looked at the crafting grid, thought why is there here.... and then Slapped my self on the forehead.

I could have been right clicking the picture/recipe for water the whole time.

Well, not quite 100% as I've made another change. Blame it on the guy who suggested including Special Mobs. lol.

This time I've combined Head Honcho with Totem Pole and turned Head Honcho into a Safari quest with a number of the Special Mobs on the menu. Kill just one of each of certain ones and win a legendary bag and Healer and choice of bed/sleeping bag. Of course this meant reverting the Seed Bank and Happy Trails back to offering saplings instead of the bed/sleeping bag but it kinda works itself out and won't affect existing worlds.

I'm really really sad that I don't have enough DL left to watch your video right now. I'm going to have to go visiting friends or wait till my rollover at the end of the month... Decisions decisions.........

Special Mobs, yes that was my idea, but really I walked around all of the first night and didn't feel a need to seek shelter or anything, hell I even played ring around the rosie with some mobs for a bit.....

And I'm afraid that you are going to have a lot of videos to catch up on.... This pack is addictive to play so of course I'm recording a lot of it c:

I have to wait for when my neighbors aren't outside making a lot of noise. It's awkward having other voices come up in earshot when you're supposed to be Marooned.

(Although once I get well-started, I could use insanity as an excuse...)

Although you're Marooned, you do have an audience watching your every move as it is a game show after all. They just might be the audience chatting about your progress, [or lack of it] and deciding on what they would like you to do next. In fact who's to say they weren't out there chatting about their latest fiendish idea to include all those new mobs.

I learn't just tonight that its really not a good idea to walk up to a Gravity creeper and hit it. Dragged me towards it and blew itself up, taking me with it. Made a crater much bigger than a regular creeper would have. At least now I know what the 'gravity' part of its description means.

Ooooh, insanity... That could be a fun addition @Spaman, enviromine has that feature......

But I may have to vote against that, I've already created a lot of work for you with my constant poking you about new mods to add, oops.....?

Sleep easy, no way is Enviromine going to be added. If it was possible to maybe start with thirst and then be able to dispense with it further down the track, I might think about it, assuming of course you actually had a separate slot to place camel packs. I always thought having to choose between a camel pack and chest armor was a silly idea. Thirst is an interesting concept but becomes a pain really quickly. Carrying around spares and not being able to use chest armor is just plain wrong. Then there's the gravity situation with sand. Considering the whole planet is predominately made from it, I'd have to nerf it too much otherwise all those ruins would 'settle' the moment you climbed on one. So all in all, there wouldn't really be much left in the mod for me to actually make use of.

On the positive side, I will be introducing a new biome that I've been playing around with today. Its a rainy one but actually adds a few new things you don't get in the other biomes. I've spent today making new ruins for it. I might even revamp the existing ones and either remove or at least reduce drastically the number of generic ruins that are common to all biomes.

I did manage to see your first video at a mates yesterday. It was interesting that you consider the IGI something of a cheat. Now I don't like cheating but I do think its handy to have some information at your fingertips rather than having to use the horrible F3 feature. I wasn't really fussed about FPS or light levels. It came std with the initial config so I left it in. Upon reflection, I've removed that part as its not really needed.

I do however think its good to be able to glance at your held weapon or tool and see how much damage it has left. Its basically only an extension of the already existing line that shows on your hotbar, just a bit easier to read. Then there's the armor. Although it doesn't show which armor is still surviving on your person, you can at least see there's something there with the symbols showing on your hud. Its always annoyed me that there wasn't something to show which armor you are still wearing, as in real life I'm sure you'd notice if your helmet or boots etc suddenly disintegrated while you were in battle. Number of items currently in your inventory? Again its obvious what is in your hotbar but knowing for example that you have 117 blocks of sand all together in your inventory is simply a handy feature like the auto replacement in inventory tweeks. Potions? Well I could have removed when they show as you generally can find out by entering your inventory. But then again why should one have to stop what they're doing just to see how long a particular potion has left to run. Its really no different to the countdown you get after feeding.

Either way, at least you get to choose whether you want it or not.......

Special mobs is being introduced, man I really am going to go full hermit style of play with those around.

The really evil ones like those vampire pigmen have been removed. I just wanted to add more interest to the game, not make it so you can't go outside at night without getting killed.

how are we supposed to get our first cobble? am I missing something very obvious?

You can just keep progressing through the book until you are able to sieve stones from the dirt that you can make, or just get super lucky and find a hole through the bedrock like I did.....

Sieving dirt will give you stones, 4 stone in the crafting grid gives you cobble.

also, you could use TNT / SDX to blow up furnaces you might find and then pick up the items (sdx does not destroy drops), or if you know how to reach below the top layer of bedrock then you can just use a wodden hammer to break stone into cobble....

also I havn't found any in this new version yet but theres the lava mounds, just pick it up with a bucket and place next to any liquid to make a primitive cobblegen/smooth stone gen.

So I have to wait till I have enough metal to get the spruce sapling, has it always been like this and I've just forgotten? maybe watching Elder find all that stone has made me envious :p
I havent seen any lava mounds for a few versions, are they still in the pack? I'll go looking if they are, I need an edge!

I have yet to see a lava mound in 1.2.1 but then I've always been more of a builder rather than explorer........ I do need to get me a glider assembled and take a few leaps from the slime island.

good to know, thou as a matter of personal policy I generally avoid going outside till I'm good and ready, and venturing around is more time consuming in 1.2 since stuff is more spread out and the valuable ones more rare.

thus the exploring has become more taxing (increased distance) less profitable (infrequent treasure spots) and more dangerous (greater variety of mobs)
all these things will result in make most players more hermit like,

Havent noticed new mobs in the plains version, but there not so much treasure I finally found one of the spawner towers that used to have a diamond chest, now we get a water tank :p
Didnt spot any lava and I have been exploring, even found a few oreberries, the dungeons that have them seem much rarer. Finally got enough metal to get a spruce sapling so I'm all set!
I want to try out the other saves as well, see how hard it gets :)

I'm playing 1.2.1 and have noted that creepers are netting positive amounts of materials. For instance when one blows up a fruit tree for me I can put everything back and have extra jungle wood in my inventory.
