Crashed again, then I reverted to a backup of YouShallNotStack.txt and it loaded fine.

I deleted the previous text file, moved that new one over without messing with it in any way, and it still doesn't work. I have tried a few other things as well. For example I noticed that in the current version of Infitech 2, YouShallNotStack.txt has the ExtraUtilities line as part of the example code rather than an actual line, so I took that out and I also made it so that there were no spaces between lines such as is suggested as the format by the ExtraUtilities entry, but that didn't work and I am guessing it is because the Extra Utilities drum line is actually meant to be a a real line and you just fixed that.

@Jason McRay

I recall someone in this thread mentioning how much discussion this modpack gets here on the FTB forum, but how the actual player count seems small. That leads me to believe that this modpack is great to those who know about it, but that not too many people KNOW about it. Have you considered hosting a small website for this modpack, that acts as a marketing tool?

One of the problems with a modpack like this is the barrier to: (a) learning about it, and (b) getting started with it (installation, what to do when you first log in, etc). I think a small website would be the answer: it could provide general information about the modpack, installation instructions for client and server, a link to this forum for discussion/questions, and a list of all online resources related to your modpack (youtube videos, for example).

If you're interested, I'd be happy to work on this with you. I'm a web developer and have extensive experience with all things web. I'd love to see more people learn about this great modpack and how it works. Let me know if you're interested.

I was thinking about it in the past. But problem is that I will have no time to really tend to the website at all. i already have a lot of things to do, which is taking most of my free time. If I would add website to that list.... it would kill me.

Fair enough! If you change your mind, let me know.

I'd opt in for the site as well (can provide hosting, if that's needed)
But I'm not really sure what should be the content for the site. Probably a wiki, b/cause FTB wiki doesn't really help with some stuff in InfiTech.. And may be some showcase. But that's all that comes to mind..

Which processes are you talking about in particular? I haven't encountered any that aren't reasonable and sensible in their contexts.

There are some that are monstrously long, but those are "projects" that are supposed to run in the background while I do other things.

It might have been with reference to Dlur's post a few pages back ...

So I made some Neutronium. And without really thinking it through I macerated an ingot into dust. I then tossed it into a scanner to create a data orb.

I'm not sure how long it will take for 3.2 to hit, but I'm going to guess that it will be less than the 118 days that this dust will take to scan :)

That's real-life days!!

I used to play a lot of city builders back in the day. Things like Pharaoh. Sometimes you'd need to build a giant pyramid. It would take forever to assemble the infrastructure and workers and such, and forever to complete the task. I'd run off and take care of other things while my minions were at work. Periodically I'd check in on progress and see how things were going.

I kinda think of scanning neutronium along the same lines.

That's kind of thing I do when I play dwarf fortress write code. I always have dwarves on the background, and every time I run off for the coffee - or some other break - I check out that little bastards.
(this actually makes most of my df playthroughs much more !!FUN!!, but that's a good thing. :))

I don't dislike doing things that take a long time to process either. But 118 days at say, two hours of minecraft per day is 12*118 actual days. o_O I don't even want to write down the result.

PS I'm not complaining btw :)

Aren't you supposed to convert the number of days shoan in hours and then divide it by the number of hours you play per day and then convert it back to days?

Have I got it the wrong way around? I did 118 days = 24*118 hours = 2*12*118 hours => 12*118 calendar days at 2 hours per day.

Really guys, I'm only thinking about people who, for whatever reason, can't run minecraft all day, even in the background, so just don't even consider processes that take that long. There's so much else to do though, it's not an issue for me. As i said, I'm most definitely not complaining - I love this pack and will dive back in when 3.2 comes around.

I think I can see where the problem is. Ihave changed the recipes for the backpacks. Normaly in vanilla forestry when you craft them, they will get assigned unique ID (UID), which is what prevents them from stacking. However, because I am changing the recipe, I can't give each bag its own UID, wo they are capable of stacking together. If you use them once, they wil get the UID back.

I will make them not stackable in YouShallNotStack mod, which should be simple enough to prevent this.

String and wool is easy to get for most people. If I were you I'd consider a substitution for the wool in the default Forestry recipe with the hardened leather and as for the 2x string you turn into something I can't remember off the top of my head, you put that item in instead of the vanilla Minecraft string. It might mean hunting down less cows and more string drops but one would still have to hunt cows, anyway. Also, the conversion from leather to hardened leather is not that difficult if you check just how easy it is to craft the Extra Utilities Watering Can. I'd recommend upgrading that to require iron plates IMHO. :D Also, the Pam's Harvestcraft cookware is still in default recipes for most of it.

If you really want a proper Infitech modpack any Pam's item requiring vanilla non-ferrous ingredients should get disabled, or preferably, altered to a GregTech equivalent that's just a little harder to get to. For anything requiring ingots, if there's a GregTech plate equivalent, such as the Cooking Pot ingots, change them over to require a GregTech equivalent.

I don't mind that food is as easy as it is to get to, currently, for various purposes, but hey you said you were building a serious modpack here. :D

Cheers ...

Just a thought...have you considered NOT scanning Neutronium? :p

@Blood Asp, is there anything you can think of to implement that would allow players to use monstrous amounts of power to brute-force the huge scanning processes? Are we able to overclock the scanner (further) with power from, say, a fusion reactor or something?
