Bees were added just recently, and thats only because of me getting a lot of requests to put them in.. Only depended stuff there is, is GregTech itself. You can do IC2 crops, you can do the old quarrying and others...

I'm just getting out of the 'bronze age' now. Been a while but already am seeing benefits. The basic macerate seems so much quicker and better among other things.
The only issue I'm having is thinking how the hell do I power an ebf?! It needs 128/t but low voltage 32/t but you need aluminium to make medium which... You guessed it, requires ebf. Anyone any ideas how to over come this other than making 4x32eu/t low voltage = 128/t?

@Pyure did that. He used 4x LV Energy Hatches on our EBF until he could make MV (128 eu/t) stuff.

We also like the new GT machines. They require even more steps to make - the pumps and motors with all their little rotors, screws, different kinds of wires and rods, etc.,. are kind of a PITA to make, but the machines are very nice. The LV don't consume much power and they're pretty quick for what they do.

One problem we ran into entering the electrical age was making plates. It took us a few false starts to finally get the 'Basic Bending Machine'.[DOUBLEPOST=1411559521][/DOUBLEPOST]
Ah that is good to know. My 1.7 pack just isnt worth playing with load times like that, and Im not even all that interested in bees-I just figured I would give it a try and see what the fuss is all about. I was considering infitech as I am interested in having a gregtech world but since its probably very dependent on bees, I suppose I wont.

Completely agree, sir. I'm doing bees because I really like them and want to give Binnie's completely overhauled machines a good try. Bees aren't everyone's cup of tea and that's fine. They're definitely not necessary for this pack. We've found all the resources we've needed so far from manual mining.

There's some decent early Thaumcraft stuff. A GT Thaumium pickaxe made using a Thaumium pickaxe head + 1 stick (not the Thaumium pickaxe made using 2 sticks) is mining level 3 (same as diamond) and has Fortune II ! It's also very fast. Hat tip : @SpwnX

Just need crucible, water, wand, iron, and a decent source of Praecantatio aspect. The Greatwood trees are probably the easiest, early-game.

Bees definitely, 100% unnecessary. Its just the route some like to take.

You could do similarly well by pushing for technological solutions such as clever quarry setups and exploratory mining.

We've gotten as far as we have w/o a single quarry, but there's nothing saying we did "better" than we would have with a quarry angle instead.

The horizontally-aligned Arcane Bore is also fantastic with the way GT 5 does ores.. We have used that in our world with great success.

Another technique/device that's been very helpful is a vanilla mob spawner with a 21-block drop. A player on our server used ExUt Cursed Earth to put the spawning on turbo. We had found a Division Sigil in a chest earlier and he did the midnight ritual to get cursed earth. It also 'charged' the Sigil, which has been very useful. I think @Pyure and the other player made some super-fast pickaxes with it.

The spawner has been a fantastic source of rotten flesh (Methane !!), bone meal (bone), Ender Pearls, gunpowder, and golden armor. Merging damaged golden armor to fully repair it and smelting it for gold has been our main source of gold.

That is a fantastic idea for gold! What a top it! Although it all relies on the Sigil. In a way it's good as it encourages exploration but it's very rare in my experience.

How are you killing the mobs, by hand or some fancy contraption?

Loving the idea of using rotten flesh for methane! I never even thought about that! I'll start saving it from now on!

21-block drop to take most mobs to 1 health, then conveyer belts to an ExUt spike. Vacuum Chest sucks up the drops. However, a vanilla lava blade (lava flowing over a ladder, with water flowing over a ladder 1 block below to "push" the mobs into the lava blade) would work just as well. Vanilla hoppers below would pickup the drops.

OMG, please tell me there is a server with this pack

There is currently a development server that is whitelisted for server Devs and Testers only. If you'd like to apply to become a tester I am currently looking to expand the team.

If you are interested please go to the below link and create and account then send me a message stating why you would like to join and what you can bring to the team.

I'm going to look into this but maybe using vanilla mob spawners instead moved using a diamond dolly or something. Would be good to get methane. Would be a brilliant source of energy. My steam production is limited at the moment.

Grove if I'd known you were a steam-noob too, I woulda combined efforts with you on the server. (I'd also play more on the dev server if I had a damn partner. Other than Aiwendil. He's a jerk because he has uber tech.)

I thought Jason was killing the diamond dolly?

He killed the diamond dolly? Awww damn I hope not that thing was bloody handy ;)

I'd team up but i can't get on that much atm due to a few personal family things going on and you 'steam' ahead of me (yes, pun intended haha).

I'm just out of the Bronze Age, looking at getting an EBF going when i next get on :D

might be a way to allow the diamond dolly, if you make it a single use for spawners and make it require iridium and a nether star... not sure how rare iridium is in the pack yet but from what I remember it was very rare early game. So there could be a balancing act to do with them

That's actually a good idea but I don't know if its possible to make it single-use.
