Heard about it, but not checked it yet... Currently I am quite busy with other stuff (other modpack, playing a shit ton of WIldstar) :)

So long as you're having fun, I'm glad... We don't want stressed out pack makers. :)

Okay, question! So what other mod pack do YOU play then? ;)

The jabba dolly seems to be disabled, at least it is on my end, youre also talking to the only strip-miner who has trouble finding diamonds in vanilla :p
I wonder if you mean branch-miner. Strip mining implies getting everything and leaving no walls. Possible you mean exactly that :)

Intrestingly, this is the first pack where I frequently strip-mine. Once I find a vein, I don't like worrying about "navigating" it later. I'll start at the top and basically quarry the whole damn thing out (in stages, as needed.)

Do the solar boilers behave like the solar panels in galacticraft? ie - must be in total plain view of the sun to get anything done, or can i park one down with only a small porthole to the sky visible?
Porthole seems to work for me.

Yeah, i put that to the test after making the post ... went to bed before i could say anything about my findings, solar boilers are basically like the ic2 solar panels in the way that as soon as the sun is up they start making heat.
They make a good enough run for an alloy furnace and a steam furnace on their own, i just havnt made a buffer yet because i dont want to waste so much iron on a tank till ive made a macerator :p

So, Pyure and Miguk, how are you guys progressing? I currently have a full suite of bronze steam machines and one IC2 generator and batbox powering a basic wiremill and basic plate bender. So, pretty much, I am running with very basic electric machines.

I have an ore washing plant, but it sucks 32 EU/t, and if I power it with my basic steam turbine, it sucks all the steam out of my 2 high pressure coal boilers and starves everything else, so I am currently sticking with bronze-era macerator and hammer processing.

How did you elect to increase your power gen? I would love to have a steady 32 EU/t production.

How do you get GregTech energy storage? Chaining BatBoxes probably isn't the best idea.

Did you go straight for an electric blast furnace? I have some invar and some cupronickel, but I want to make sure I don't skip good electric machines (Assembler? Lathe?)

How do you plan to power the electric blast furnace? It takes a continuous 128 EU/t, correct?

I'm kind of at a loss since the documentation isn't great for GT 5.0 yet. I have enough resources to proceed cautiously, but I don't have enough that I can afford to take the brute-force method through the tech tiers.

Thanks a bunch!

Yeah documentation is a mess. I got the EBF working by connecting 4 steam turbines to 4 LV energy hatches and giving it TONS of steam.

I've got about half a stack of aluminium but I'm not sure what I want to do with it first.

I'm refining oil into fuel via the basic distiller. Its slow as hell and not quite as efficient as the BC refinery by my math, but its the "GT" way. Dunno how I'll best use the fuel yet :)

I lost my waypoints on the dev server. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to find them again, so I can catch up to the same level of industry there.

I do have an assembler now. Do not have a lathe.

every time i even look in the direction of a mountain range, my game freezes for a good 30 seconds ... its not like my comp is a pile of garbage either.

Have you guys found an iron vein at the lower elevation of its generating range? I have only ever found iron ore as a very small constituent of magnetite veins (curse you for displacing more valuable ores!) or as Pyrite ore as part of a Malachite/Pyrite/Chalcopyrite vein deep underground.

Is there such thing as a pure iron ore vein, and if so, at what height have you found it?

Look for (brown and yellow) limonite ores... At y=14 and below. There's also plain iron and banded iron ores in gregetch too.

Also check the posts SpwnX left for us in the beginning of the thread: http://www.mcbeyondreality.com/wiki/images/3/3b/OverworldOre.png

Thanks! I was specifically curious what the "mineral" name would be that would get me iron ore. I knew about the 10-40 height for iron, I just hadn't ever seen it, so I wanted to know what to look for. I'll see if I can find some.

In case some of you noticed that we are kinda out-dated with GregTech, I am sorry. Was laying in bed with fever and sore throat. Will do an update as soon as I will be able to...

Just so you know @Jason McRay, I found a crash bug with Holo Inventory and Forestry in v1.1.1 of the modpack. When a Forestry farm hatch (just the hatch, not other multi-farm blocks) is looked at by any player when the Holo Inventory mod is enabled, that player crashes with a "ticking player" error, as follows:

I can replicate this issue in SMP and SSP. Obviously, when a hatch is placed, the player is looking at it, so they are immediately kicked with "Internal Server Error". When the player tries to reconnect, they cannot load all the chunks in render distance before being kicked again. Once this crash happens, the player has to be moved by admin or NBT edit so that they are no longer near the farm hatch. I have been forced to delete the player.dat file (I don't think it's corrupt, but it just "resets" them to the original spawn) in order to fix people. Holding the farm hatch in hand as part of the inventory does not cause this problem, but looking at it causes the crash when Holo Inventory tries to load the Hatch contents.

Disabling the Holo Inventory mod fixes this crash for me in SSP in a test world. I have disabled it on client and server and will test in SMP.

My opinion is that this is an issue with Holo Inventory and not with Forestry, but these two particular mods interacting actually causes the crash.

Im having a hell of a lot less issues finding ores on Xtrabiomes than i was with BoP ... definitely worth setting myself back a few days of gaming :p

I searched and didn't find one. Anyone have a small server for this pack? Like 1-3 people that wouldn't mind another and aren't too far in yet. I've never played with co-op on a server, but it almost seems necessary for this pack. I'm 33 and play casually but frequently in the evenings U.S.

Sorry if it is bad form to ask in a packs thread. I see server promotion, but no "looking for server" area.
