1500rf/vis could be a solid way to balance it
1500RF is actually very little. A dynamo makes more than that in one second. The new Energized wand exchange rate from RF to vis is 10,000RF/1vis. I've messed with it a bit and 10kRF is a good balancing point, it doens't make the cost insignificant or too much for at least one Redstone Capacitor handle.

Could you make it a config option?

I could, but if you're going to make the energy/vis ratio lower, you're going to find you're barely using any energy at all.
I have a highly nerfed energy systems. Think magic farm on hardcore configs where all the energy you can energy from food with a max 20rf/t with the longest lasting time of 10 seconds

I like the idea too, but then you have wands with 150 vis storage that can be recharged fairly easily anywhere you'd like. That could get real cheaty real fast.
Well, the caps I proposed don't allow to charge for vis, only to charge for reduction, maybe up to 40% =)
RF usage could depend on vis storage capacity.

The wand takes quite a bit of RF and is rather expensive. You're going to have to have a good TE setup just to get/power it. Secondly, the wand's max vis capacity is only 25 vis, you're either going to use it as a tool, or as a way to use the arcane crafting table to make some of the less expensive recipes.

have you thought about adding some sort of bonus when using the shock wand focus with the RF wand? perhaps a strong effect or an additional effect?
would be funny if you could somehow upgrade the wand if you were to get hit by lightning, just like the gravity gun...

A perhaps on the shock cap, but I do love the lightning thing. Perhaps it could increase the max vis storage?

Is no one else having issues with the 2.2, with "techno:wandCores.0.name" replacing block 0 (air), and completely screwing with AE systems?

On the bright side, there's a fix/new version out!
0.3.0:
  • Added: Energized wand
  • Added: Galvanized bellows.
  • Fix: Right click with pen core causing crash.
  • Fix: Essentia Coils no longer link to essentia mirrors. Some compatibility with them may be in store later.
  • Fix: Some typos.
  • Change: Several recipes have changed.
  • Change: Flux lamp's are more expensive.
  • Change: Tesla coil's internal buffer reduced.
