Not really.. that's the problem. You have to config it both on server and on client for it to work. So everyone who wants to join my server has to manually update a .cfg file in the configs folder with the exact same contents that the server has... Let me know if there is a way to avoid this.

Got the same problem on my server. It's only client side crash though. Fixed it by removing block using MCedit: http://www.mcedit.net/ It's very old/outdated but still works even for 1.7.10

Just to add: I don't think it ever freezes completely, it just gets slower and slower, so if you wait like 10 seconds after typing your search, the items will eventually show up. Still extremely annoying.
