I'd never looked into it previously but I'd love the idea of a mod that specifically added stronger mobs at lower mining levels (below 30). The only thing comparable right now is cave spiders, which given how they tend to get stuck trying to climb over the mineshaft sections aren't a huge threat...

I heard greg mention he is planning on some thaumcraft changes soon, but remember the mining laser doesn't need any nether stars and if you have RP2 in, not really any need for diamonds either. The most difficult bit is the titanium really.
