New players have no frame of reference. They don't know that the diamond drill recipe is "wrong." They just know that you need these ingredients to make it, and it's going to take a lot of work and figuring stuff out. I don't see any problem with that.

I think if you try to feed it too many cells and there's room in the middle, it will put them in there. Or so a friend tells me. But if there's room for cells, they'll go top-left.

A cutoff date would be nice to finally see all the improvements in the other mods, but it could delay RedPower even further. I imagine the FTB team would very hesitant to issue a major release for everything else, then quickly issue another one for RP2.

IMO it's more about later convenience. It's nice to have chests loaded with ingots and semi-finished products so you can cut another step out of your recipes later. Considering most modded-MC players are familiar with Buildcraft pipes to automate their ore production, and pipes tend to back up...

I assume you know you have to put your ingredients in the work area of the assembly table before it starts doing anything? Try one more Stirling Engine. You might be losing a wee bit of power through the pipes or elsewhere, causing you to fall under the 4MJ lower limit.

Not to mention that many of the key early- to mid-game recipes in FTB (macerator, water mill, windmill, quarry) are NOT nerfed. Which has been mentioned about ... 7 bazillion times. This thread makes me want to go find a noose.

It works, but I think it has to be attached to other wires/blocks. I've successfully used a redstone torch under it. Theoretically you could also use the redstone output from an MFSU or whatever, but that seems broken.
