    Best server host?

Yeah, I'd say a ton of problems come from people not truly being able to run a server remotely, although I did read some posts by people saying they're constantly being attacked just because the subnets of OVH are common knowledge. Yeahhhhh...it's not advertised either, have to dig through an...

    Best server host?

We are in the process of creating a new community, and until we can afford our own rig/colo, we're using ProvisionHost. You can sign up to get into their Las Vegas location and receive 50% off your monthly bill (recurring). DDoS is only an extra 50 bucks a month which is the same as JavaPipe...

What antigrief / Logplugin do you use?

True on the money. Another thing that I thought of after I hit submit is a feature that unfortunately only appears to be in Towny: restore on unclaim. Towny can optionally take a snapshot of the chunk when it's claimed and slowly restore it (with a blacklist) on unclaim. That would pretty much...

What antigrief / Logplugin do you use?

I perfectly understand, but it's not about prevention in this case, it's about permissions. Nothing would stop a person from claiming outposts or towns all over the wilderness to grief your map, except maybe money. Claim > grief > unclaim, rinse and repeat. You'd still have one hell of a mess to...

What antigrief / Logplugin do you use?

Sure, but that makes it so you can only use a Wand in town unless you say something like SuperTrusted rank can use them in the wild. That's really a matter of trust in a user who you'll never meet and not necessarily about which option is the best. Both options prevent grief in claims/towns, but...

What antigrief / Logplugin do you use?

The only experience I've had with LogBlock crashing on rollbacks is when we had a mod installed, players placed/broke blocks from that mod, and we later removed the mod due to major bugs (like TE). Just had to blacklist those items in question. Also, we had issues with tanks rolling back into...

    World Names

By the way Staxed, I just realized MCPC adds world loading options into the bukkit.yml. Enabling each world keeps it loaded and can probably unload MV.

    Banning Quarries in Overworld only

But WG does not support damage definers. This isn't a problem for Quarry per se since it doesn't share an ID, but if you were to block Nuclear Reactor placement (246:5), you would ban every 246 item. WG is pretty nice for things like panels or CC if you only have them in spawn for ops. You can...

2013-09-09 22:01:39 [INFO] Multiverse-Core version 2.5-b675 Edit: If you are unsure if a plugin will work, read www.bukkit.org and they'll tell you what breaks from 1.4.x to 1.5.x to 1.6.x. For example...

    Trouble maintaining membership?

Why would you run MyTown if you have MCPC+? Just run Towny. There are enough bukkit plugins out there to fix the issues that MyTown uses as a selling point: lasers (ic2 patch), wands (bedcraft), and any other dangerous item can be banned through the 40 item-banning plugins out there - if not...

    World Names

Yes, we run MV through mcpc+. While running MV, you'll see something in your server.log (after all plugins have loaded) 'dim20 has been unloaded' & 'dim7 has been unloaded'. You can't '/mvtp dim20', '/warp', '/home', or '/time' to those worlds, however, we fixed this by tossing a chunk loader...

    Server logfile options?

Be thankful you never ran a Tekkit 1.2.5 server, damn. Slotchanging and all sorts of constant spam... Anyway, you can try http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/thislogmustdie/, however, some mods may not call the same logger that the plugin monitors so the spam could get through the filter (we...

    Banning crafting recipes

MCPC+? Check your bukkit.yml and there is a banned item section as well. I personally haven't used it yet (or tried wildcards, something WG doesn't support). banned-item-IDs: - 'item:id' - 'item:id' I'm still using TekkitRestrict.

    World Names

The worlds are probably unloaded, it seems only the main world and nether stay permanently loaded by default. Toss a chunk loader in their respective spawns and test again (or just warp there and try the command). If you use multiverse, issue '/mvlist' and you'll see if they're unloaded or not.

    Banning Quarries in Overworld only

Ownership ban it through customizer (this prevents crafting too) and then add the proper permission node in your pex 'miningworld' section. Your miningworld would need - tekkitcustomizer.quarryid.damagevalue.* This would give them break, place, own, craft, etc. If you do a worldban on it...

Problem Personal server - other players "can't reach"

If you're using a site like canyouseeme.org and it's still showing closed, then something on your end is still blocking it like Windows Firewall. You could try a DNS as he suggested (but you'll likely get the same results), or giving a VPN like airvpn.org a try. They have a 1 euro trial for 3...

    Auto-Save

Cronjob onto Screen. */15 * * * * /your/script/location.sh #! /bin/bash screen -x ftb -X stuff "save-all $(echo -ne '\r')" exit ftb is the Screen name in this case and it is saved every 15 minutes. Also make sure you chmod +x the script.

    Auto-Save

Rdiff is the only way to go on unix. You can save as often as you please and you can restore a single file from any restore point instead of dealing with massive zips. Not only is it fast, it saves you way more space because it's differential backups. There is no need to keep saving your spawn...
