Hello! I want to create a good FTB server. The plugins I was thinking about using was Towny, economy and whatsoever!

I want a good VPS with a very good CPU and RAM for a good price. The money is not an issue, as long as its not overrated.

I also want someone that is good at coding and can help me code and fix glitches.
If i get the server running and get some people playing and donating i might get a website, but for the website i will need a website coder. So I am in need of professional coders.

Seeking professional advice.

Contact me through skype or on the forum.

My skype is: jojje212

Thank you in advance.

Just wait for the DDOS to come.. They told me along the lines of "we'll have it done in about 12 hours" waited 18 hours and still didn't fix the server. Plus their support wasn't too helpful.

To find a good host step 1. avoid all minecraft hosts they all will try to rip you off. I mean $15 a GB???????? less then 50GB of storage SSD or not thats sad. I pay 2.3 per GB for my server (64GB total) and I pay about $150 a month, however the server is dedicated with 2TB of storage and 3.6ghz 8 core cpu. My host does however have cheaper servers for about $40 a month you can get 8GB of ram 2TB of storage and a dedicated server with a intel i3 processor. You asked for the best server host and in my experience and according to these specs that other hosts would charge you over $200-$600 for (inmotion hosting charges like $600 for the same thing) you should check out http://www.ovh.com

Okay 1. they're what I like to call them "fresh" servers. Those servers are not minecraft "ready" so your opportunity cost for these is lot of time if you want to config these things (I got a 8gig one for 39 bucks a month and could not keep the server up at a reasonable up time cause I don't know how to run it). You could try putting a personal McMyAdmin on it but I did so and could not get it work with 3 hours of trouble shooting. 2. isn't OVH is in both supplying and money problems? (heard they are behind by 10k+ orders)

Please read online reviews before you go with OVH. They definitely have the lowest prices but you need to understand that things can (and occasionally do) go horribly wrong with them. That said I'm still tempted to try them out with fingers crossed...

Okay 1. There what the world likes to call "dedicated" servers. Those servers are NOT minecraft servers and it takes me with CentOS6.4 64bit about 15 minutes from installation to start a FTB server all you really need to do with that is yum install java7 -y upload the ftbserver mods and run the start.sh (without upload time it would take me 5 minute MAX from installation to make a server. Running it from MCMA is easy and takes about 20 minutes max if you know what you are doing I don't see how you can spend 3 hours trouble shooting when all you have to do is upload, install mono and hopefully screen and then start the McMyAdmin.exe. 2. A multimillion dollar host does not simply run out of servers on all it's packages http://forum.ovh.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7405

They are the same as another truly dedicated host and the only one that I have found that does not completely rip you off. They let you do a lot more then MOST VPS hosts and dedicated hosts and they only require you to let them know before you make a IRC server.

Erm.. did you read that before you posted it? It says that you can't even rent OVH anymore until they figure out what to do about the mess they've gotten themselves into.. *sigh* I guess I'll be staying non-dedicated for awhile more now..

Exactly and I did what's the MCMA wiki told me to do and still ended up spending the time and not having an efficient Minecraft server up and running. There are dedicated servers on the market which are "minecraft ready" (or at least you can request it to be so) from Minecraft hosts. However yea a number of them are going to ask you to pay an excess of 100 dollars for it. If you shop around you can get a 8gig equivalent ready for Minecraft as soon as you order for around 60 to 80 bucks.

Id rather not waste $40+ to get a server which the host installs things on it that you don't even know about when it is so easy to run the server manually or upload the McMyAdmin.exe, install mono and screen and do "screen -S screenname mono McMyAdmin.exe" and have the server run great.

We are in the process of creating a new community, and until we can afford our own rig/colo, we're using ProvisionHost. You can sign up to get into their Las Vegas location and receive 50% off your monthly bill (recurring). DDoS is only an extra 50 bucks a month which is the same as JavaPipe. For a VPS it's pretty decent so far because you get: ssd, root, ssh, MySQL, MyMcAdmin, and some pretty good customer service.

For 65 bucks a month in their Vegas location, you can get DDoS and 8gigs of memory... although their CPUs are not amazing at the Vegas location. I looked pretty hard for a decent VPS with shell, and OVH definitely looked appealing for dedi's at those prices, but their reviews are atrocious. Pretty sure they're not even located in America.

I have used OVH for months hosting multiple ftb servers with dozens of people on at a time with 100GB+ worlds on a SP2 and i'm upgrading to a EG1, I have had no issue with OVH thats why I defend it so much (it has a location in Canada which has a amazing internet speeds and low pings 99% of the time even for people across seas and in western US. But ProvisionHost looks good however for minecraft servers ESPECIALLY ftb servers, CPU is everything.

Yeah, I'd say a ton of problems come from people not truly being able to run a server remotely, although I did read some posts by people saying they're constantly being attacked just because the subnets of OVH are common knowledge.

Yeahhhhh...it's not advertised either, have to dig through an FAQ because the displayed specs are for the other 2 locations. Kinda ticked me off, but the price is still reasonable.

That may be true but I haven't experienced any attacks of my own and I have had thousands join my server. And a server with CPU speeds less then 3.8ghz will have a hard time with ftb (large world and players add to it a lot as well) but also don't overlook ram, if you plan on running a ftb server for a long time get a lot of it, takes over 9GB of ram just to start my server.

Yea just think ho "why would a business do this and that?" every time there something "unreal" going on.. I learnt the hard way.

If a host doesn't list cpu speed they are hiding something. And if you email them and they don't tell you DON'T use them, they are hiding something. Same thing with internet speed NOT bandwidth.

yea like the obvious other craps as well "unmetered bandwith/diskspace" is turd as well. Often time you'll find either a solid limit or "you can have all it as long you let the other customers don't suffer from your usage".
