Extra utilities liquid transfer node can be upgraded a fuck load. They are by far the most space and resource efficient.

I've been using Java 8 SRE since I played Ultimate, and I have ~100 hours of Monster play with that version. I wonder what's up.

The soil lights them on fire. If they don't grief blocks, fences work. A dirt wall works just as well. Play BnB and you'll understand how to survive.
