    Transformer upgrades are not that expensive (real price is lower energy using effectivity), but they help to reduce lag a lot, when you get to hundred thousands eu/t rates. Intermediate energy storage is useful early game, when you use energy in bursts to process stuff that you just digged.

    And to answer my own question - MFR is probably a new IC2 (a little less elegant, but with a lot of bonuses), with it's mining lasers as new MassFab.

    IC is great, and if I had a choice of just one mod to play with, it'd still probably be IC2. But I think closed-source mods have no future. Is there some UU-equivalent in other mods, btw?

    Wrongs. Mods are designed to be playable as standalone (some more, some less), but ARE developed to be combined with other mods as well. That's why mod developers make changes when some loophole is found (such as lava in RC boiler) and test them together (DW20's server)

    Red line is also inside filled zone. So, if you put filler "on the red line", it will clear itself.

    Never connect engines directly to Filler. Filler can only consume so much energy per tick, so it needs some pipes to serve as buffer.

    When boiler accepted lava, you could make more lava than you spent. It was OP, so it was fixed.

    I like wood buildings (especially birch), but they catch fire so easily.

    Balance of RP/IC/BC is hinged on irreversibility of convertions. You can't convert metal back to ore, or uranium back to ingot, so you can have different ways of converting things without breaking game balance, When there is even a small case of reversible convertions (like energy back to lava)...
