What's new in modded minecraft today?

So this was shared on twitter by Mumfrey, the creator of LiteLoader. It's an aspect of what is happening with the Sponge workings and looks very cool (advanced java stuff).

    Overated/Problematic/Misused Mods

That's part of the idea, enchanting a gold tool at 10 levels gets you at the highest enchantment range, and then the cost of ripping an enchantment onto the corresponding gem won't be too high.

I remember when I could no longer instal zork off of the floppy we have because there was no place to put the disk, turned public domain and still had to mount in DOS-box :P

What's new in modded minecraft today?

I don't care that this isn't MC news :P this is everyone and everywhere news https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos_games/v2 MS DOS games for everyone!

    Overated/Problematic/Misused Mods

Its definitely not an original mechanic, similar things are done in Kingdoms of Amalur and others as well, I just want something that both encourages gameplay and "adventuring" as well as makes the enchanting mechanic slightly less tedious and frustrating to use.

    Overated/Problematic/Misused Mods

Well yeah but you need to get the redstone somehow. Actually putting it on is very trivial, I realize that. Also "easy" is a relative term. I would prefer being able to do it reliably but the method should still involve a significant amount of work, certainly more than surrounding one emerald...

    Overated/Problematic/Misused Mods

And throwing 500 redstone dust on something isn't tedious? :p Oh wait, getting redstone can be completely automated in which case you don't actually have to do anything yourself at all. Needing to play aspects of a game in order to achieve something shouldn't be a foreign concept, silk touch on...

    Overated/Problematic/Misused Mods

Changing the adding modifier mechanic to be done in the anvil would have been quite easy to implement with the anvil event. Before the event the anvil was a vanilla locked piece of trash :P. They aren't in themselves bad, but it needs to be augmented, something like being able to rip...

    Overated/Problematic/Misused Mods

TiC did amazing things with tools and weapons. Does everyone agree with said things? No. I personally find the fact that you can make a tool out of literally anything overboard. Having one such aspect of the game given such a huge boost makes the other aspects of the game deal hollow. A lot of...

[TE4] Are strongboxes not recursive now?

I'm curious what actually breaks... something with the NBT tag for the Strongbox's itemblock since it isn't a tile entity when it's in your inventory.

    Thermal expansion

If you mention Buildcraft pipes, whether concerning function, limitations, or game overhead - make sure that you try the latest versions, the new variation and functionality are way superior to the buildcraft of old, and the pipes are now threaded code and are very low on overhead. Definitely...

    Do modders get jealous?

Frankly tile entities are horrid :P don't even get me started on inventories, containers and tile entity data. Everything is a horrid mess, which is why anvils, and crafting tables aren't perpetual storage, you just create new containers every time you "open" them.

    Do modders get jealous?

I get jealous at other modders' abilities because they often surpass mine. Instead of letting that bog me down, I let it push me to learn more, and try harder. I've also never released anything truly substantial, and a lot of that is because of the feeling of inferiority when you see the product...

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

*CRUNCH* Mickey - "What was that loud noise Goofy?" Goofy - "I dunno Mickey, it almost sounded like the average intelligence of this thread going so low if broke the floor, hyuk" Mickey - "Aw gee Goofy, is there anything we can do about it?" Goofy - "All we can do is hope that someone comes and...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

Apparently doing stuffs doesn't include keeping updated CodeChickenCore and NEI versions. For Shame. :P

    Code Snippets/Classes

Well its like the difference behind saying "I want to make my own gocart instead of buying one" and saying "I want to build my own car to drive". The go cart you throw together and enjoy the fields behind your house, but a car needs to meet intense criteria and you aren't the only person it may...

    Code Snippets/Classes

These ideas of lib mods seem great but who really wants to use code they didn't write? I would much rather write code myself even if just for the experience and learning.

    Quick question about modding

Have you made sure your IDE has a refreshed resource folder? All of my assets get added after I make them in gimp so they don't show up in the project until after a refresh or restart. This has caused me many a heart-ache.

    Extending Early GamePlay

Is that actually what the enum toolmaterial is for gold? I thought it was the same as iron... Anyways some of my hopes for the future: I want to implement XML file reading for all of the recipe handlers I implement, this will require learning and work on my part so I'm not absolutely...

    Extending Early GamePlay

This is very difficult to do while maintaining support for other mods... It would be super easy to do for a standalone vanilla overhaul though.
