If the world's regions are already created under NORMAL type then subsequent regions will not regenerate in BIOMESOP type. I don't know if there's a way for the server to be aware of two simultaneous types. One NORMAL, one BIOMESOP.
It seems by experimenting that once the world is generated...
Use the force, read the source ;-)
Thankfully TiC is open source:
@Override
public void generate (Random random, int chunkX, int chunkZ, World world, IChunkProvider chunkGenerator, IChunkProvider chunkProvider) //IWorldGenerator version

It looks like currently, from a random Dallas, TX node and Redmond, WA node that the round-robin DNS of creepernet is giving addresses for new.creeperrepo.net as:
new.creeperrepo.net. 600 IN A 50.7.98.154 <- this is "mail.awakeandsingle.com" legit?
new.creeperrepo.net...
I wrote this simple perl script to measure the duration of logins of players (to find issues of aborted logins or what not)
Save the code as a file called "parse".
It's simple:
From the shell run:
perl parse -X < server.log > results.txt
This measures logins that last LESS than X seconds...
A couple of nits to pick:
In Unix (Linux) don't use spaces In the file names. Not good. Confusing when listing files.
Using tar --
Usually the idiom goes like this:
tar cf - <stuff to tar> > mynew.tar
To compress it:
tar cf - <stuff to tar> | gzip -c > mynew.tar.gz
That - is...
If you run your server on Linux (or have Cygwin installed on windows -- recommended) then you have a plethora of commands to look at files to hunt down things.
Unless you have the source to the mods, which would be easier:
find <path> -iname '*.java' -print | xargs grep <expression>
eg...
Can you submit a Support Ticket and pastebin the portion of the server.log just before the crash and all the server.log data thence. Plus the entire crash report.
I'll take a look.
Thx.
Getting a McMyAdmin enterprise license key is worth it. In my accelerated decrepitude I need all the help I can get.
It also allows you to easily provision rights to Moderators/Admins/etc.. when you need to look away from the server for a while.
I'd agree with that also.
The title of the thread includes "Best server host". I don't believe there is such a thing. But, I do believe that there's enough of variety in the market that you can find the server hosting style that fits your needs.
Shell or no-shell
Point, click and run or...
He's talking about FLASH (SSD), not RAM.
Your point I think was if you don't sync the data to SSD then you'll lose it. Agreed. Setup your server to auto-save often as you can bear to deal with the lost work without saving. Up to you.
But that's the story using SSD or HDD or clay tablets.
Your analogy for "analog" system of data storage is misleading, and a bit dated.
There's cache on modern HDD controllers. Huge caches. There's multiple heads on modern HDD. The disk can read multiple blocks simultaneously. HDD geometry is an abstraction in modern HDD.
I won't argue that...
