Is it intended that you can't craft chests in the Pax 2014 map/pack?

With particles you could just put your particles on Decreased. This is not right in your face. And i think I've seen a mod/thing where you could disable individual particles on its own.

I wouldn't describe Minecraft ad just a game. For me it's a whole platform, as you said, there is literally (Yes, I did say literally. And I mean it. PROBLEM?!) anything you could potentially do. Even with just vanilla, guys like sethbling create maps and contraptions you wouldn't even think...

Out of memory simply means what it says. Your computer can't handle the game. Try putting settings like render distance and smooth lightning down.

In my opinion I would suggest you to not use the gamebooster thingy dingy. To me all it did was adding extra complexity. And if you are already running a low-end pc, another fancy launcher running in the background which is supposed to help with your fps would probably have the recerted effect...

AFAIK it does hurt to have multiple Javas installed. I read that somewhere and it made sense to me.

You could either enable the gameruke mentioned above, or you could set up a station where people can grab Golden Charms Of Keeping, either for free or with a small cost if ya want. (That's actually quite a nice Idea, pay a diamond for keeping your inventory once :D)

What's the deal with Witchery? I mean, what are the cool things you can do with it? Like, what's the main direction it is leads? Thaumcraft has all kinds of magic things, Blood Magic is comparable but more evil and Ars Magica let's you create spells? But what can you do with Witchery?

You can ofcourse just turn off any hilly biomes you dislike in the configs, but I don't think there is like a WorldHeight option. But hey, there might have been one added :)

Not sure, but that might have been a BoP Phantom. It's a somewhat invisible mob that can screw you over quite well.
