Big Reactors. I produce power straight from the reactor and not bother with the turbines. My usual startup routine is mine for gold and redstone ASAP, make a pulverizer and several survivalist generators for ore doubling.

Hmm, I've never had a problem with them before. Try turning difficulty to peaceful for a second then switch back.

You can macerate regular diamonds for the dust.

I usually try to collect the clay, make a pickaxe to mine the black cobbles, and run straight to the 3 story building right on the edge of the city, kill the spawner and wall up the first floor. It makes scavenging the city a bit faster.

I always use Silk Touch and process the ores. I'm not 100% on this but I think on average, Fortune 3 yields more products on lapis, redstone, and diamonds than pulverizing. But my vote's for Silk Touch.

Get a reliable form of flight. Set up a decent power generation system and larger quarry with automatic ore processing. Then start on Botania.
