How would you power a large player-run city without the use of Big Reactors and Tesseracts?

I havent really paid a lot of attention to the speed honestly, too busy gawking at the robots.

So I got my turbine setup, now the reactor?

Theres absolutely nothing other than the Mining laser to spend that power on. And its better than waiting for a stupid quarry to finish tearing holes in the world. It defeats the purpose in my opinion to set up something called a "reactor" if you constantly need to hunt down fuel for it.

So I got my turbine setup, now the reactor?

Big reactors are so boring. Any time the subject comes up, all you hear about is efficiency this and efficiency that but it doesnt really matter. Ive adjusted my fuel consumption rates 20 times normal and its still super easy to make it self sustaining, no matter the shape. (as long as the fuel...

How would you power a large player-run city without the use of Big Reactors and Tesseracts?

Well I am working with the tools I am given, theres nothing in the game that looks quite like those machines (yet!) I dont need it to be 100 percent historically/scientifically accurate. Id say my factory design has the same atmosphere as the pictures you posted.

Lets See Some Bases! Give Us a Tour!

At least try dig The least you could do is find a nice looking mountain to tunnel into and build a few hallways and rooms. Use a silk touch hammer and bring a builders wand to fill in holes and correct mistakes, and a wand of equal trade to change up the walls and floors into anything other...

    Setting up Game Goals

Yeah I stopped "needing" things in my current world just a few days after playing. Its really hard to define what is needful in minecraft unless the person playing it comes up with their own goals.

Magneticraft has awesome conveyor belts. Awesome because of the way they look and also because you cant accidentally pick up items from them, only the robotic arms that go along with the conveyors can. Lately it seems Magneticraft is all I can talk about.

I like to do that aside from the programming but I hate clutter. So I cant unless its very neat and tidy, wrapped in a pretty box. Kinda sucks, sometimes I just dont want to build anything.

    Feels like starting over...(pic heavy)

Looks to me like an homage to the monolith from Arthur C Clarkes' 2001. A "swiss army knife" of a machine that can do anything.

You can even pump it in from the bottom or sides:

I usually set up an MFR mining laser or two to spend lots of power for free ores.

Tech mods: Why have a power system?

I shouldnt make assumptions, sorry. Anyway vanilla does at least hint at power systems, it has redstone signals and on/off switches. And crafting is simply trading one resource for another which is not so different from burning fuels for power. Its a game about resource management.

My Buildcraft Quarry doesn't use Silktouch?

Yes it does. Quite a grueling craft.

    Pneumatic-craft Refineries! (Warning, PICS!)

I get your point, now it looks more cartoonish. Most mod authors just arent good texture artists and should outsource imo.
