To be getting that crash you must be running 0.8.0. Update and this goes away. Or if you for some asinine reason refuse to update and get all the bug fixes, then go into the blood arsenal config and disable the version checker.
Problem is, if I do that, HQM will inevitably throw a hissy fit and require another manual reset of player quests. Heck 0.8.2 had this problem when all I did was change a couple of tasks within existing quests, not even messing with the requirements tree at all. Likewise, the quest to go to the...
Actually it's not Nature Overhaul doing it in Regrowth, since that's not in the pack. EBXL does this with its saplings by default, where if they're lying on the ground long enough to decay, instead of decaying they will plant themselves if possible.
Not all the mods that support it in the pack are updated to it currently. I'll have to test it to see, but I suspect I won't be able to update it until Binnie does an update to his suite of mods.

You do not want me to use normal quest requirements for detecting progress. If I did the quest book would be unplayably laggy by the time you were at the infusion stone stage of witchery. Just ask anyone who was around way back during...
FYI, this was accidental. I hate 'easy mode' research as it makes the research table near useless. I had only turned on easy mode for the purposes of some creative mode testing of the sequence of unlocking some research, and forgot to turn it off before releasing the updates.
