Thaumcraft should offer you at least one or two options there. Golems may be able to do it, and thirsty tanks can be given a "Glyph of the Bovine"<?> which I think can help with that. edit: I have gone temporarily blind.

If only chest binding worked in SMP :\

I believe the item you are looking for is called the "life imbuer" from botania. I could have the spelling wrong. Definitely just look for it in your lexica botania ;)

I believe the answer to your question... is that you're asking the wrong question. Your concerns were addressed in this post.

May as well get this out of the way... if it's not working, you've probably lost those ingredients. Chances are you tossed in the ingredients in the wrong order, or forgot something. Make sure to toss in the ingredients in the order listed in the book/NEI, and (of course) don't forgot any ;)...

I see no reason to wait for the update to 0.7.4, nothing particularly buggy in 0.7.3, and a bit less buggy than 7.1/7.2.

Hmm... you could probably avoid the hole with a couple of well placed resonating redcrystal.

What Rakankrad said ^. I'm having a great time with the redcrystal from Automagy, though unfortunately for all you "I restart with every update" players, most/all? of its usefulness is beyond the Thaumcraft Gate.
