Nope, I just put it in and it works just fine, maybe your modpack is broken or you changed IDs too much

Simply use Deep Storage Units with Storage buses for anything you have more than 30k, let's say dirt, cobble, gravel, wood, scrap and maybe iron, then for rest use 64 or 16k preformatted for ingots, crystals etc and finally use several 4k or 1k discs only for type availability.

Well, there's a config file for GregTech where you can disable some features you don't like, such as harder recipes so you can just add content and craft everything else in an usual way.

Why would you do that? Unhinged has hardly 2 mods more than Unleashed (GregTech and DimDoors), so why don't you add them to Unleashed instead?
