Is there a way for a force engine to run without a redstone signal? Or is there a block that emits a redstone signal in a radius around it? because i wanna make a square out of force engines but i dont have spots for redstone signals because the liquiducts are taking up a lot of space. Any help is appreciated!

You can combine the MJ output with the redstone signal input.

Output MJ into a wooden BuildCraft pipe with a gate on it configure the gate to create the redstone signal

A block or redstone emits strong signal all around it (except maybe diagnonally). If you are having issues with space though there is an alternative liquid pipe that may be of interest to you. If you pump your fuel and throttle into two buildcraft tanks near your engines and then use liquid transfer nodes (from extra utilities) to extract liquid from the tanks and you can run the same transfer pipe from both tanks and feed it into the dartcraft engines from the same entry point!

The transfer nodes aren't the fastest things but there are speed upgrades.

What you could do is push a redstone brick up with a sticky piston which would turn on 5 force engines at once (if you push it up with 4 around it and 1 on top), then to turn off simply switch the piston.

i dont quite get the issue. the engine has 3(4) free sides, which can accept redstone signal via vanilla redstone or MFR`s rednet cable, other`s mod redstone cable, or by block that can be energized by redstone signal.

I usually do force engine arrays like this
A=Air
E=Force Engine
R=Rednet cable
F=Fuel Liquiduct
T=Throttle Liquiduct
C=Redstone Conduit

Code:
AARAA
AFETA
RECER
ATEFA
AARAA

Then on either end I can tie together the liquiducts and rednet cable and stack it as high as I need. Everything can be turned on/off with a lever connected to the rednet cable at some point.

You can easily run 4 force engine with just single RedNet cable or Redstone block, it looks like this

OEO
ECE
OEO

O - air
E - engine
C - cable/redstone block
(view either from top or side)
In this case, 4 conduits need to be placed near engines to get power out of them.

similar setup is also efficient for running steam and magmatic engines, you just replace diagonal pairs with MFR cable and liquiducts and the middle should be conduits.

@up ninja'd, you got the point.

pictures would be really nice guys, if you could post them so i see your setups :)

this is how mine looks so far. I want to use every 4 sides of the redstone conduit but as i said the liquiducts get in the way. i might try the rednet cable thing, but its kinda slow :/

Currently, I do not have a picture with Force engines but I hope that this one will give you an idea. You can just attach Throttle liquiduct to the sides, which are not used in the picture.

You can also easily automate the engines with REC, gates and PRC. Setting up SR Latch and 2 gates set to output signal when energy is full and no energy as a reset and set toggles in PRC seems to work just fine.

Dunno if you read my post but I explained you how to do that. Instead of lava, you just put liquid force and on the sides, you attach milk or water...

Oh I see your point, the lava liquiducit could be my force liquiduct, and the rednet cable could be my milk liquiduct and then i just slap some redstone blocks behind the engines. Did I get it?
